Converting Coned Bolt

i have a nesika and a borden. both are 6ppc. to tell the truth, i much prefer the BR over the PPC and i would like to have the bolts opened up. is this possible with a coned bolt? also, i thought of having a 20 vartarg or something similiar built on a BR action. can a coned ppc bolt be bushed to accept 223? thanks.

Call the action makers about opening up the bolts.

On the 223 bolt head I have come up with the idea of 'snap in' 'partial circle bushings' [ for lack of a better description ] that fit the bolt head similar to the Remington extractor. You would have different bushings to fit different case head dia's. You would also possibly need matching extractors.

Chuck,
I own a Borden TPE 6ppc.I wanted a 6br and was talking to a friend that also had a Borden. He said a .473 case would fit the, coned)bolt with no modification and didn't believe him until I personally placed a case onto the bolt face. Called Jim Borden for a 6br barrel, screwed it on and began shooting. Only problem was an intermitten extraction problem that was the result of a burr on the extractor. Jim put another extractor and no problem since. I regularly shoot IBS 600 yd. Only problem is I shoot against Sam Hall, Terry Brady, Mark Shrounce,Larry Eisenhour etc. Well you see what I'm up against.

Have fun Jim Morgan

jim,

you are absolutely right about the borden. a 6BR case fit perfectly. i wish i could say the same for the nesika action. the borden has never been fired. i think i will take it to mike bryant and have it reamed to BR. thanks everyone.
