Converting a Regular Stocked Rifle Into a “Chassis Rifle”

One thing to check with chassis systems is contact.
They've gotten much better/tighter tolerances over the years- but sometimes a skim bed is necessary.

This ^^^^^

We had a bunch of issues with action movement in chassis until we started bedding the lug area. Even with bedding the lug, we prefer to use a conventional stock for a heavy recoiling rifle.

And a brake makes all this worse. Though felt recoil is less with the brake, the rifle stills sees most--if not all--of the recoil until the bullet exits, then the brake applies an abrupt stop or maybe even a reversal. It turns to shake things loose......

I'm not much of a chassis guy but I like the looks of this one. The one reason I'd be choosing this one is because I would be using for hunting and like the reduced weight, folding option, and having the integrated rail to mount a bi-pod, or attach it to a tripod.
