I have three of them. One 26" and two 30". With 30 Gr of Varget they all shoot the same speed. 26" is enough but the 28 that was suggested would give you room for a setback.6br is sounding good. What length barrel?
at first i thought this post was by hog
Maybe I missed it, if somewhere you indicate "single shot" I apologize, but I think a question that needs to be asked is...."do you intend to shoot from the magazine?"I have a Remington 700 in 308, and really would prefer a smaller, lighter recoiling cartridge for competing mainly F-class 300 yds, but still capable of possibly competing at 600. Without altering the bold face too much, or at all, what cartridge do you suggest that I re-barrel it to? I was looking possibly at 6BR. Good choice, or is there a better option? Thanks guys.
I will only be loading one at a time.Maybe I missed it, if somewhere you indicate "single shot" I apologize, but I think a question that needs to be asked is...."do you intend to shoot from the magazine?"
YesI'm in the same boat as OP. Have a Sporter benchrest rifle I want to convert to something in 6mm.
Northland says they have Rem/Age barrels in "6 BR Norma" - Is that the same as 6br?

nopeAs I understand it, my 308 boltface will work fine, as-is for the 6BR, but does the firing pin hole have to be bushed, in order to use it with the small rifle primers?
No, not exactly. The 6mmBR Remington is normally set up with a slower twist and a significantly shorter throat, intended to use 68-70 grain bullets. The Norma version runs a faster twist with a longer throat, and is intended to use 105-107 or heavier bullets. Same brass, but the throating and twist differences mean that they have to be identified as two different cartridges for CIP purposes. Same dies, same brass, though.
Interesting. Northland does their own work as I understand it, I will call them and get the reamer specs for their 6br and report back.
im going to say 65 creedmoor.we have a bunch of creedmoor bashers here but mine works good.i have not been real constitance yet because i have been changing things looking for the best combonation.that is over i have found the powder in am going to use for the rest of this season.if you have any questions about the 65 creedmoor pm me your name and #.im not going to wast my breath here with the bashers!!i will leave the bashers one thought though. i shoot in the light gun class at williamsport at a 1000yrds.there are 2 65 creedmoors being shot there this year.if you look at the top 100 groups shot this year where are they on the list #1 and # 3 # 11.so you can do the math.good luck in whatever cal you choose. just pratice a lot and shoot straitI have a Remington 700 in 308, and really would prefer a smaller, lighter recoiling cartridge for competing mainly F-class 300 yds, but still capable of possibly competing at 600.
