Could you just install a 300WM on your current setup with a really good brake and make it work? Bolt head swap is easy. I would have a hard time building a rifle for a once a year shoot. Just a thought.

Yes i could have kelbly spin me up a barrel and have nearly as much in it if my stolle panda will run that large of a round. But by the time i get a bolt also im well above the cost of throwing together a savage. I dont have any long action rifles.

It is all for fun and im beginning to think the cheapest way to do it is just buy the new 112 magnum target and have fun. Not saying id be competitive but at least id get to shoot.

I have my edge on a panda, love it. It’s a two bolt setup 6bra/338 Edge and it works great. Kelblys bolt is $ 450 I believe and then your barrel. Sold all my savages

775 for a barrel then 450 for a bolt and i dont know how much a good brake is. Then there is the problem that with a 20 moa rail i dont think my nightforce br 12-42×56 has enough elevation.

This would be the least expensive route. Especially for a limited use rifle.

I was going through the same dilemma last year. looking at 416 and 375 variants.
The reoccurring question came up, How far you got to practice? My range goes out to
2600, so I settled on a 338 LM Imp. Is it really the best ELR cartridge? Maybe not. I'm
not going to win the KO2M match with it
But for me, It works. I'm also at 5000' elevation so that helps. I Also have a Savage
short action I changed the bolt head on and chambered it in a 7SAUM. 168 Berger
hunting VLDs @ 3040 got me 6 out of 10 hits at 1950 yards this summer.
So, You gotta ask, How far can you go out without having to drive hours to shoot?

I can practice at 1200 max our comp the way i understand it is only to 1800. Like i said once a year. I just want to compete in our local gig not shooting for k2m.

If my panda would take 338 edge that for sure would be my highest quality option at a decent price and could be competitive. Maybe i should call kelbly and ask.
