For those of you familiar with a similar post on BR central please disregard.
My name is Mike Suhie and I live in Wallingford, CT. I have been bitten by the BR bug in a big way, and have been looking for a place to shoot in competition ever since I got my first gun put together. There are no IBS registered clubs in CT currently, and I would really like to change this.
The main reason I am posting is to try to get an idea of how many shooters are in the CT/MA/VT/NH/ME/NY/PA/NJ region that would be interested in registered IBS 100/200yd score competitions. The range I belong to is, in my opinion, ideal for CT and bordering states to get to a match: it is centrally located and easily found off of I-84 in Plantsville, CT - Bell City Rifle Club.
The facility is clean, has a meeting house with indoor range, decent benches, subject to change if the proposal goes through), and a pit at 200yds. There are also nearby eateries, lodging, and Lake Compounce amusement park if people wanted to make it a family trip.
I fully intend to have a factory/semi custom class that would allow anyone to 'run what ya brung'. I don't want to discriminate in any way if possible. The only group I won't be able to cater to at least in the near future is the group shooters. Getting a moving backer system put in when there are NO other competitions to give an indicator of interest would be a tough sell to the board.
Please feel free to post something as simple as 'I'm in!' to let me know what kind of crowd is out there. I am bringing my proposal to the board on March 26th, and want to be able to give them the best indicator for return on investement.
There is a lot more than I realized that goes into getting a range ready for a true registered match and I want to do it right.
Thanks for your interest, and support.
