Conquest DL or Leica ER5

Ok I think I have my scope choice narrowed down to a Leica ER5 2-10 x50 with the ballistic recticle and the Zeiss conquest DL 3-12 x 50. Both of these seem like nice scopes and they are both on sale at a really great price. This is going on my tikka t3 243. I have about ruled out the swarovski z3 due to price. I'll probably go with the Leica, but haven't heard much about the conquest DL. I think they took the place of the duralyst line.

I haven't heard of conquest "DL", but I've had conquests before they were called HD5, and they were great optics for the price. When they became hd5, they became complete junk. Probably the worst glass I've even seen, until a buddy got the new V6..... WOW, even a bigger pile of crap! At this point, I wouldn't buy anything zeiss.

I have only one Leica ER 5, and it's the 4-20. The glass is very good, but haven't had it long enough to know anything about longevity. It is on a braked 30-28 nosler, so if it lasts on that thing it will be good to go.

Tom, is the 4-20 leica a big bulky scope? I looked at it, but I'm afraid it would look a little big on a tikka t3.

Put a Zeiss on a scope tracker if you want to see absolute junk

Here is a comparison picture for size. Top scope alone is a 2-10x50mm Lecia, 30mm tube. Second is a 3.5-10x50 Leupold, 1" tube, third is a 3.5x10x40 Leupold, 1" tube, adjustable objective. Both rifles are Remington 600's. Leupold, 1" tube, adjustable objective. Both rifles are Remington 600's.

ER5 would make a nice hunting scope.. You missed a great sale at Europtic, $499 for a 15x and $650 for the 20x...

I actually like the ER5's, reticles are more of what I like for hunting..

I actually went out on a limb and got the vortex viper HS 4-16 x 50mm instead. I spoke with a sales guy at Euro optic and he spoke very highly of the vortex glass and said they have an unbeatable warranty. I really liked that it was a little higher power than 10x. I'll give it a try and see.
