Sorry guys new to some calibers. I am looking at a nice little mauser in 243 to buy. The issue is the barrel is stamped 6x47. I know there are a couple chamberings for this. The gentleman has been shooting 243 through it, he says with no issues. My questions is would a 243 win even chamber in a 6x47 or would it have to have been rechambered and just not stamped?

I would recommend a chamber cast to verify the round.

A 243 will not chamber in a 6x47, but a 6x47 will drop in a 243. Looks like somebody took a barrel from a 6x47 and rechambered it. Being it's a mauser, it better be cheap, or else walk away from it.

i thnk the operative word here is "good". I think I would chamber cast it or walk away. Likely the second
