ConeTrol rings ?

Any of y'all run ConeTrol rings/bases? I have one Remington 541S set up with them and just bought 2 sort of grab bags of rings and bases. Finally got the rings watched up to their proprietary top caps ......... I think. I was just looking for any tips for assembling since they're somewhere between less than easy to quite difficult to assemble. Once they're on and everything squared up they's just gorgeous on some vintage rifles. I learned a lot installing them on the 541S but that was months ago. Any insight into a magic process is most appreciated.

One thing I learned with those rings is to push down hard on the cap as you are tightening things up. They will pop off if not held down with some force. The first time I used them I didn't hold the cap down. Sure enough, it popped off. After that, the cap wouldn't stay on.

Right you are, Sir!! Holding the ring halves together in the right position for the top cap to seat is where I struggle. Since starting this thread this morning I have figured out how to use a rubber band to hold the halves while I position the top cap. It works pretty dang slick! I'm still open for any/all info on this topic though.

Yeah, I've ordered from Mr Miller and have all their instructions, etc but, IMHO, the instructions could be much better. I think I'm onto something with the rubber band
