Concrete mixer with steel pins for tumbling?

Yeah, I am just plain "unfriendly", that is your take on it?

Better or smarter? The guy has an inane idea. Is it "friendly" to encourage it?

If the newcomer had asked about firing .323 8mm bullets in a .318 bore 8mm rifle would you be "encouraging" and "friendly" by refraining from remarking that doing so would blow up his rifle?

Is this the place to sell brass salvaged from 55gal barrels?
Do precision handloaders typically deposit their brass in range wastecans, or sell it for salvage with only 1 or 2 firings on it?
How much is 3x to 20x fired brass worth?
55gals of once-fired military brass is something else, but not typically raved about by forum members here...

I'd say if you deny a newcomer your plain and common sense opinion for fear of offending them, you haven't helped them at all.

I dunno.... maybe 200lbs of ss media at cost of $40 per 5lbs is Just The Ticket for our friend. Guess I'm just skeptical of spending $1500 on media and another $400 for a mixer to pioneer uncharted waters.

But I have made plain that SS media does cover all the evident sins used brass might otherwise show.

Truthfully, if the brass is in good condition it shouldn't need cleaning at all. Don'tcha think? Brass cleaning is relatively new in the handloading world, and actually really does nothing but give a nice appearance.

Handloading is not a pastime for the mentally deficient. Or maybe it is just another of Darwin's roadsigns through life?

There are bound to be forums for commercial handloaders and garage manufacturers of reloaded component ammunition. Think those guys would have the info this fella needs. Might call Big Blue who sells automated loading presses and ask them about bulk case cleaning. Dillon might be a starting point.

Better or smarter? The guy has an inane idea. Really, what is so inane about it????? Jerry Miculek obviously didn't think it was an inane idea, but what does he know, right?.?. Is it "friendly" to encourage it?

Where does it state that he is selling it?????? Maybe you were the only one that saw where he was selling it and we all missed that.

I don't think so, but to each his own and did the OP state that it was going to be used for precision reloads?????? Nope, it didn't say that either, unless you were the only one that saw that too. The OP didn't even say that it was recovered from range waste cans. That was just another assumption on your part, I guess.

Who cares? Nowhere did it state that it was 3x or 20x fired.

Well, among other things, it also keeps the dirt and powder residue that accumulates on fired brass (from firing it) from being deposited in your reloading dies, but maybe you don't care about that.?.

Handloading is not a pastime for the mentally deficient. Thanks for stating the obvious..... is that statement of yours meant to imply the OP is mentally deficient?

Hogan

I'll take all the once fired Lake City brass I can get because of its hardness and quality any day of the week.

And your not helping anyone or showing "ANY" common sense or even common courtesy with your ego induced postings.

I also think the term "douchebag" is improper "BUT" you should conceder changing your screen name to Richard Head. ;)

I wish I could understand why a fella asks a question and it turns into arguments? We really should stop the digs etc and act as gentleman no matter what.

Turrets or low blood sugar lol.

Just Kidding I think Mr. Hogan is a no nonsense guy set in his ways speaking his mind I picture him yelling and saying TURN THAT RADIO DOWN and SLOW DOWN PUNK.....Id love to have 55 gallon drums of ANY brass....you could load it really hot and ruin the primer pockets for an edge and not give a hoot lol....Joking of course. My Ex Father in law was like that and man he was funny when it was just me and him.

Very Respectfully

Just think of the internet being today like the CB Radio was in the 70's. People tend to get away with all kinds of things when anonymous. If they were to do or say the same things in person, "cosmetic surgeons" would be getting rich from all the noses they'd be repairing.

I have seen something akin to this work quite well with nothing but corn cob media!

$_12 by Rick Mulhern, on Flickr

Coat the inside with "Bed Liner Paint", make a cover out out of whatever waterproof material you might have lying around and you're in business. All you need is a lot of brass to process at one time.

Good lord this was not my intent.

In two of this guys posts he somehow implies that my brass is for sale or that I am selling it. Where on earth does that come from? I asked a question... I did not place a classified ad.

Hogan, You sure seem to assume a lot of things. In my line of work that thought process gets in the way and can get people hurt but it sure seems to allow you to hit the gas!

Thanks to all the guys with good advice and intent that try not to assume too much.
I have always tried to give credit where it is due and with that in mind I will say this to Hogan. I think your mindset about the average guy with a 55 gallon drums of brass ( several in fact)giving what limited information I provided would be more right then wrong in most instances.

You might try working on your delivery. Just because I am new around this site does not mean that I am new but again.... You let/ allow assumptions to rule your thought process.

I hope you apply less assumption in your hand loading. ;D
