Yeah, I am just plain "unfriendly", that is your take on it?
Better or smarter? The guy has an inane idea. Is it "friendly" to encourage it?
If the newcomer had asked about firing .323 8mm bullets in a .318 bore 8mm rifle would you be "encouraging" and "friendly" by refraining from remarking that doing so would blow up his rifle?
Is this the place to sell brass salvaged from 55gal barrels?
Do precision handloaders typically deposit their brass in range wastecans, or sell it for salvage with only 1 or 2 firings on it?
How much is 3x to 20x fired brass worth?
55gals of once-fired military brass is something else, but not typically raved about by forum members here...
I'd say if you deny a newcomer your plain and common sense opinion for fear of offending them, you haven't helped them at all.
I dunno.... maybe 200lbs of ss media at cost of $40 per 5lbs is Just The Ticket for our friend. Guess I'm just skeptical of spending $1500 on media and another $400 for a mixer to pioneer uncharted waters.
But I have made plain that SS media does cover all the evident sins used brass might otherwise show.
Truthfully, if the brass is in good condition it shouldn't need cleaning at all. Don'tcha think? Brass cleaning is relatively new in the handloading world, and actually really does nothing but give a nice appearance.
Handloading is not a pastime for the mentally deficient. Or maybe it is just another of Darwin's roadsigns through life?
There are bound to be forums for commercial handloaders and garage manufacturers of reloaded component ammunition. Think those guys would have the info this fella needs. Might call Big Blue who sells automated loading presses and ask them about bulk case cleaning. Dillon might be a starting point.
