Concentricity gauges

I've seen the ones that Sinclair makes, are there any others out there that are any better or a better value? Thanks for the help, if it's not obvious, I'm a newbie at all this.

Thanks, Steve.

Thanks Lynn.I've seen some that had the 'v'-blocks and thought the ball bearings would at least be smoother.I'll probably do some more searching to see what I can come up with.

Thanks again.Steve

I have the Sinclair model and am very happy with it. It is well made, easy to use, and can tell you if your dies are doing their job correctly.

Lynn,

Have you used one of the new Sinclair gauges? I was under the impression that the balls were staked or fixed in some manner, i.e. not the freely moving ball bearings I would have expected.

I have one of the older Sinclair gauges,w/ the vee-block) and don't have much problem w/ it. I'm not sure how one would get it to 'cut into the case' like you mention. I originally called Sinclair wanting a NECO, and the guy on the phone talked me into their model instead... and less than a month later, Sinclair comes out w/ their 'new' model. Guess that's one way to clear out the old inventory still in stock?!? From time to time, I've considered getting the NECO anyway; I think the high,er) quality GEM indicator is a fair chunk of the price difference btwn the Sinclair and NECO units. Stick a $100+ Mitutuoy or Starrett dial in the Sinclair instead of a $25 cheapie and then compare the prices...

My friend Joe DeMeo just loaned me his H&H to play with. Real nice piece of equipment that allows you to straighten rounds as well as check them. Dial indicator measures .0005 which is nice also. I'm going to test it heads up with a Sinclair to see which I like best.
