Concensus on 6BR-AI powders???

After shooting the Dasher for the last eight years, I am about to embark on shooting the 6BR-AI. In the dashers that I shot, I tried Re15, H4895, 8208 XBR, and Varget. Varget was by far the best powder for me. Now I am searching for the BEST powder for the BRA shooting 105 gr. VLD bullets. I plan to start with Varget, but am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks, James Mock

Consensus on this forum??? Forget about it!

I started with H4895 because that's what guys are using with a lot of success (8 twist, .237 bore 4 groove Krieger). It's too early for me to know if that will be the powder. If not, I'll try Varget or 8208 next. RE15 was very accurate when fire forming. It was sooty and has a reputation for temperature instability, so I opted not to start with it.

Same powders you used in the dasher, its damn near the same case. H4895, RL15, Varget, exc. Your barrel and target will tell you more than we can. My first choice in a cold climate would be H4895 and in a hot climate RL15.

I have used nothing but Varget since building the rifle 2.5 years ago. I make a slight change in amount during the summer when temps and humidity get above 85*/65% (less than .5 grains). This keeps me in the 2980 fps node and primer pockets stay tight. Every chamber and barrel will be slightly different depending on the reamer used.

I just changed to a new lot of Varget this week, so testing will be done this weekend to see how much difference there is.

I have some '94 VV N135 that is a fairly fast lot. Do any of you 6BRA shooters think that it can be used for the BRA or is it too fast for 105 gr. Bart's bullets? I have not tried it in the Dasher, but did blend it with some N133 (50%/50%) and shot it in the 6 PPC. It worked well with the 68 grain bullets. Good shooting....James

I'd like to retract the above. I chose to listen to @Alex Wheeler and try RE15 (TX). In my barrel it looks more promising than H4895 in terms of both velocity and accuracy. 106gr bullets, .237" 4 groove 8TW Krieger HV @ 28".

Would like to see a moderator save this link to the top with 6br and Dasher load threads. I believe the 6bra is destined for stardom and will be become one of the most popular long range (especially br) cartridges in no time with all its accomplished already. This will make a very useful thread for those starting out with this cartridge.
