Computer Help

I've aquired a slightly used Sony lap top computer that refuses to log onto 6mmbr.com. It'll log onto BR.Com and onto Bench-talk.com but not onto this site. I'm entering the address right as I've even Googled this site and clicked on the link with no success. I've tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox.

The computer is a 3ghz P4 with XP Professional. Any of you computer savy guys have any ideas??

Help please
Shelley

Hi Shelley:

Due to the problem being in both IE and Firefox, I'm betting it's something in the "Internet Settings" in your control panel. Try different settings in the Security panel and see what happens.

I have XP Home and Vista Premium using both IE7 and Firefox without any problems. Bet it's just a simple setting in that settings panel.

Good luck .... ReedG

Shelley,

Our home page has a pretty heavy load because of all the pictures and the blog.

Is the browser timing out or are you getting some kind of error such as "404-domain does not exist".

Try this page--the only picture on it is the top header:

There may also be a possibility that your machine is blocking "cookies" that are used to track adverts, or a snippet of javascript used to record pageviews. The above page has no ads and no javascript.

Paul,

I get a message, after about 30 seconds, that says "the connection was reset." And then it goes on to say that maybe the firewall is causing it or maybe I'm not connected to the internet. But all of my other sites are working. I've even tried turning off the windows firewall and my AVG virus checker and checked cookies and exceptions and such.

Bummer

Shelley, have you checked under the Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, Sites of IE? You can just highlight one of the sites listed, turns blue) and type 6 to find 6mm etc and see if it is says "Always Allow" or "Always Block". This could be it too.... kds
