Competition Shooting in Idaho's Treasure Valley Area?

Well it would appear as though we may be moving to the Treasure Valley area in Idaho for our retirement.

I currently shoot F-Class Target Rifle to 500 yards. Trying to determine what shooting competitions are available in that area. I love mid to long range high power, but understand that I may have to look at other venues (Cowboy, Tactical, Three Gun, or ?).

So please educate me as to what competitive shooting is available either public or private within reasonable driving of lets say Nampa or Kuna Idaho.

Thank you.

The Blacks Creek Range in Boise has BPCR silhouette to 500 yards, ARA benchrest, CMP service rifle matches and a few club level silhouette matches like pistol caliber lever gun, 22 rifle, etc. The Nampa Rod and Gun club has many matches available, including centerfire benchrest I believe ( I am not a member there - they have a 2 year waiting list but matches are open to anyone). I shoot ARA benchrest there as well. There is another club in Parma that does long range matches (never shot there so I don't know much about them). Other clubs around the area as well.

ONLY 4 hours easy drive to either Rexburg or the garden spot of the west desert Wendover, Utah. Might be shorter if the short cut through Grouse Creek is open.
1000 yd matches year around on electric targets (weather permitting).

If your interesting in trying PRS shooting, there's a fair bit of options. There are both regional/monthly matches and a couple of national 2 day matches in either Parma or out towards Mountain Home/Hammet/Jerome.

First of all, welcome! I shoot at Vale and Parma. Vale has manned pits and a monthly 600 yard benchrest match (very informal) that I shoot periodically. Parma has a LR varmit silhouette match that is a lot of fun, but no manned pits or range that would work for E-target F-Class.

There isn't a range I am aware of that can support F-Class is the area. I still travel to CA (Sac Valley) and NV (Palomino) to shoot F-Class.

I have started shooting some ELR matches since moving to Idaho. There aren't many here but plenty in OR, WY and Utah that aren't too far to drive.

There is also a club in Homedale.

ISS
The Homedale club is a joke! They do not allow any types of competition on their ranges. They allow a group of guys running classes for Enhanced Concealed Carry classes, and an informal shotgun shoot. They have a club Rimfire shoot that garners 4-5 shooters. Save your money and time!
The Snakeriver Sportsman range in Vale Oregon, offers club matches in short range and long range, and Rimfire, but currently do not affiliate with any organizations!

glad to hear somebody interested in Highpower, we shoot 3rd saturday and sunday in Nampa with one of those days prone and F class is welcome ,the other day is across the course. the second saturday or maybe sunday is across the course in Vale, oregon which is close by, 1 hr or 1 1/2 hr from Boise. Some Palma matches in Vale, they have 1000 yds available. One day a month during the week in the evening Blacks creek has a CMP match which is reduced 200 yd across the course. See you soon I don't know how to contact me in this forum as I am a technotard but I will try to look back now and then to see if you need help finding these matches. We also have some very fun military rifle type matches at Nampa, just had the Frozen Chosen match shooting rapid fire at silhouette targets with Garands, very fun

Good to know, thank you.

hi all just read this. Looking for a 600 yard gong shoot around treasure valley. also I used to shoot NBRSA hunter class years ago are there any matches still held around

The Parma range has a growing array of steel out to 900+.

We have an 600 yard (550 really) benchrest match the third Saturday of the month at the Snake River Sportsman's Association range near Vale. Its small and pretty informal. We use electronic targets. PM me if you are interested in details.

As posted by cramfarm above, they also have some matches up to 600 yards at the Nampa Range. You can find them on their website and events calendar.

Last year I flew down to Idaho and shot the LR state regional match held in Rexburg. It was a great match, I’m going again this year.

You are surround by endless public land. If you invest some time and effort make your own range with unlimited distance. I guarantee if you explore you will find steel targets etc already set up. Not f class, but taking a crack at 1, 2, 3 or more miles will be fun!
