competition rifles

Is there a results list that shows equipment used in some of the big matches for FTR/F Open? If so please send me the link. I am very interested in this

Looking to find as much info about the rifles the winners are using

F-Class Panda actions and BAT actions are at the top of the winner list. I prefer Panda actions, but you can't go wrong with either.

I was wandering more about the stocks and barrel brands most are winning with? Triggers?

I just enjoy researching and learning as much as I can, but seems to be little to no articles or topics on this.

Most of the barrels are Bartlein, Brux and Krieger, in no particular order. Some folks shoot Shilen, Broughton and others, but the first three make up the majority.

Kelbly's, BAT, Barnard, Stiller, Surgeon, Savage, Remington, you will see them on on the line in a F-Class match.

Probably more BATs than anything, also Barnards, and Kelbly's...

Stocks, many types. PR&T would probably be the single most common, quite a few Robertsons also, but they are out of business.

Common barrel mfgs are Krieger, Brux, Bartlein, Broughton, Shilen, Rock Creek, Obermeyer.

Trigger are mostly Jewell, some Kelblys.

Scopes, mainly Nightforce, some March, Sightron, and S & B. Very few Leup, they are just not common in the F game.

You're not going to win or lose because you chose a BAT over a Barnard. You're going to lose because the guy beside you reads the wind better, or you're going to win because you read the wind better than he does...

yep it all boils down to the shooter and wind reading.

I am about to replace my old stock and action. But I don't want to make the mistake I did last time. I got a B&C A2 stock and I really don't like the thing. The buttstock is rounded on the sides and the bottom is very wide. IIRC almost 1" Doesn't track very well for me.

Elwood that is excellent. Now if only someone in the US did the same type of chart for the previous year :D

It's a lot of work to gather that type of data...

I run short range Benchrest matches, when new competitors show up at our range they're asked to fill out an equipment list which I then enter the data into my excel spread sheet. Everything is automated with drop down boxes so the data entries aren't time consuming. I wouldn't want to be the one who would have to compile a list for a national event.

Then you have the fact that some competitors have multiple match rifles...

Mark, I am sure you are correct, but that brings up another question. What do they expect to gain by lying? Is there some big advantage to lying? Or maybe there are just liar's plan and simple, I would be just bet it is the later...

Competitive advantage... ;)

Most will be honest, because most people are honest. Some will just leave the list blank, because it's no one else's damn business, and some will deceive in an attempt to gain competitive advantage. Who do you trust?

Mostly, me. ;)

Steve, I do trust you. I have trusted you ever since we met you in the parking lot at the break-inn in Phoenix and we were having the luggage cart races. Maybe there we some beer involved, and there might be a youtube somewhere... Anyway, you didn't know us, but you didn't turn us in to the "authorities" for having a little fun! Trust earned.

You weren't hurting anybody, destroying or stealing anything, or plotting treason. None of my business. ;) [br]
Besides, wasn't that when I had the busted ankle? I wouldn't have been able to run. :)

Ha- well we might, or might not, have been trying to hurt Traylor a little bit, but it was still all in fun... Litz won the race and that was that.

Yep, you were limping around...

This is off topic and really doesn't need to start some argument however. The equipment list you see at most Benchrest Matches ( never have seen one at a single F-Class match) is not a mandatory thing. No one is going to stop you from shooting if you don't fill it out, it's kinda of the Sportsman thing and just an exchange of information for the willing.

Now with that said anyone who would lie in one of those forms, when he didn't even have to fill the damn thing out in the first place, is just that a liar. As to " Who do I trust" well I pretty much trust all of the competitors at a match. I trust them not to shot me in the back when I am on the line, I trust them to be honest when they are scoring for there best friend and I trust them to be honest if they take the time to fill out an equipment list. To me anything less speaks to not who you are but to what you are.
