competition rifle triggers

My best friend bought a bix and andy, we did a test. It was 2 rifles dry fired. The one with the jewel was tripped to see if there was any movement in the bags, the B&A won hands down. The jewel would hump when tripped and the B&A barely moved the scope picture. It is by far one of the very best triggers I have tried. I will be switching to one on my full time bench gun.

I don't want to convince anyone to buy a Bix N Andy. Since I have one, it gives me a slight advantage, and I need every advantage I can get.

Don't buy them, they're junk! ;-)

That's funny Mike!! LOL! That's the reason I bought one for each rifle. I need any advantage that I can get. Same with my scopes. I try to buy what I think are the best scopes in benchrest. Lets face it, everyone of us has an opinion as to what they consider is the best. It's like Fords, Mopars & Chevys. Thank God we have variety. Bottom line, everything else being equal in BR shooting it boils down to who can read those damn wind flags and pull the trigger at the right time to get that bullet where it where it is suppose to go.

Do not want to hijack thread, but can anyone tell me, if I have Barnard S action w. trigger hangar made for Jewell trigger, can I put Bix n Andy trigger to my action whitout any modifications being made? Thank you...

Most actions the trigger usually is just a drop in. Bat Actions are a different story. You either have to have the hanger modified or you can buy one for $30.00. Call Chris Harris at Bullet Central. He is the importer for B&A triggers. He will be able to tell you. His number is 701-371-4444.

I saw a link where they used a digital gauge to measure the consistency of the 3 mentioned triggers and the results were not what I thought. The Jewel did the poorest and the Bix N Andy was hands down the winner on consistent pull weights. If the trigger doesn't break clean and consistent it plays with the fire control. Some people think that as long as it goes bang when they pull the trigger that it is OK. It has nothing to do with accuracy. Fire control is important. I never shot one but I dryfired one and thought I could hear the difference. Matt

Doesn't surprise me Matt. They did their homework when they designed that trigger. When they first came out, there were problems with them, but they got it fixed. I don't like to buy a new product that company's put out on the market. It seem that most of the time there are problems with a new product. Case in point the new Weaver 46x scopes that came out last year. I know this guy that I shoot with once and a while who said on a post on BR Central, "I have 4 Jewell triggers now and probably have had ten total and I've put 25,000 rounds thru a Jewell so why should I spend the extra money, blah, blah, blah, and I probably will never buy anything else, but this same guy has 2 March 10-60 scopes and a Nightforce Competition. I felt like telling him why didn't you stick with your Weavers & Leupolds that you use to use years ago when you first started. A friend of his loaned him a B&A trigger to try. I want to see what he has on his rifle this year for a trigger. Some of these guy's just make you laugh with their reasoning.

Especially the rookies. They've learned so much in so little time.
Rookie or not Ed, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which trigger is better. Sometimes Rookies can even learn a veteran a thing or two.

You should be careful to not equate post count on an internet forum with actual experience shooting. Lotta guys pound the keyboard, but don't spend much time shooting.

Some folks work hard learning about stuff and accumulate a lot of knowledge and experience rapidly. Some folks are set in their ways and learn only grudgingly and slowly.

Guys, this is supposed to be about triggers, not a $*&% size contest. Let's keep preaching about experience out of it, it's a technical topic.

Some folks are gonna like one trigger, some will prefer another. Some don't want to spend a lot of money, some are willing.

None of this has to turn into an evangelical argument. Can we stay rational and reasonable here?
