Competition Listings

Hello all,

I'm a rather new F Open shooter and was hoping that I'm just not finding the correct spot to find match listings. Is there a place that actually has a listing of all matches as they are posted or scheduled, without all the discussion topics that you have to sort through? I keep thinking it should be in the Competition Forum however this seems to be mainly another discission forum. I've missed out on matches because I didn't know about them until they were over or they were already full. I'm located in the Florida Panhandle but willing to drive a good distance in order to compete. I was thinking the where to shoot thread would be where to go but it hasn't seen a reply since December 2022. Having a sticky thread that stays at the top of the page and restarts every year with things only scheduled for that year would be great so you don't have to scan through hundreds of replies or discussion threads. Is there such a thread or forum that someone can direct me to, or is that just wishful thinking?

There is a range in Pascagoula,MS and they have matches at Hurlburt Field. Use the search function on this site.

I regularly attend both Hurlburt and Pascagoula matches however, Hurlburt hasn't had a match in 3 months due to heat and earlier this month someone buried a couple vehicles on the range closing it over the match weekend. Pascagoula also didn't have a match this month due to a storm causing damage to the shooting pavilion. I am looking for other somewhat bigger regional, state and national matches. I did get signed up for the SW Nationals for next year. I guess I don't know how to run a search correctly as I never come up with anything.

I have recently found out about the Port Malabar match's and will be attending a match there as soon as I can make it. Unfortunately I'll be out of state for their December match.

For that you need to go to Tennessee.
Deadzero, Oak Ridge and Tullahoma. At least they usually have 2 day matches. Also CMP in Talladega ,AL.
I have never been to that one.
Bar3 in Laurel,MS is one other option.
Port Malabar is a class operation.

I have checked into the ones in Tennessee and the timing hasn't worked out yet but I will be looking at them closely in the future. I've heard of Bar 3 and will check them out along with Talladega. I've also heard of Palo Alto in Louisiana but have heard that they cancel posted matches without notice the morning of the match even when people are driving from 5 hours away!

As far as Bar 3, I understand that Mike has not supported F-class matches in deference to sporting clays. I was told that matches are cancelled with no/minimal notice. I've shot there a couple of times but had no desire to go back.

If you are looking to come to Louisiana, Long Range Alley has monthly matches on the third weekend of the month. 1000 yard on Saturday and 600 yards on Sunday. They also have the Louisiana State championship in September.

Well, I do got to Louisiana to go fishing every year, so why not go to shoot! Not sure when I can make it but eventually I'll make it over there when the chance arises.

It may be a little far for you to drive for a single day event, but Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club hosts an NRA "Approved" 300 yd Highpower + F-Class prone match about 20 minutes east of Orlando:

I have found that 300 yd matches are usually a lot of fun and can be a very good way to help fine-tune your game.

Bar3 has a 600 and 1000 on 14 and 15th of October. I am on his mailing list so I get a notice if anything changes.

Yeah 6 hours is a haul for a one day match and quite costly at todays gas prices, I also need to figure that my Jeep only gets around 16 miles per gallon! It does sound fun and I just heard about a 300 yard match in Tallahassee, may give it a try for the fun of it.
