Competions in Meters

I would guess the layouts for a lot of ranges were done many years ago and for financial or other reasons, were just never converted.
Atglen Sportsmans Club upper range is in meters as per NRA silhouette specifications.100, 200, 300, 385 and 500. All my hunting dope charts are in meters. Same with my rangefinder.

Always wondered why the "Tack Driver" was decided to shoot
at 300 meters ??
To make the match a challenge. The range also has no moving backers and wanted to be able to see the 5 bullet holes. 300 meters will work on about any cartridge in benchrest, where the small 6's and 30BR's run out of steam past 300 meters.

Not many (any?) new IC engines listed in cubic inches, any more. Nutrition labels are all metric. Medicine is metric.
The actual definition of an inch is 25.4 millimeters, and has been since 1933.
We’re already metric, just too stubborn to admit it.
