2018 Smallbore F-Class Championships

As Ken Benyo pointed out in his response, if he was wrong (and it appears we are) then we are wrong.
With that said, ASSA is still running a Smallbore F-Class Championship in Ohio in July and all of the Smallbore F-Class shooters are encouraged to come and compete for the Championship.
As a side note, what award did the NRA provide to Jeff Heuhn?

Oops.
Maybe I'm the one to admit he was wrong and I found the evidence myself.
From the metric championship program/entry:
17. NRA will provide Championship Medallions for Grand Aggregate Winner,2nd and 3rd place.

18. SPECIAL INDIVIDUAL AWARDS: In the Grand Aggregate an award will be given to the High Junior and Senior if there are 5 or more entries.
Awards will be given in F-Class if there are 5 or more entries. F-Class will not be recognized for the National Championship and will receive separate awards.

So I guess NRA let f-class shoot AT the nationals but not actually FOR a championship.
The event in Arizona was a true NRA NC for the sling winner but not for Jeff?

I am looking for the results of the NRA Smallbore F-Class Championship on the NRA results website. No where to be found. http://competitions.nra.org/national-championship-results.aspx. The only results they have posted for the Metric Championships are from 2013.

From what I can tell the Smallbore F-Class shooters have been promised to be included by the NRA and a championship to follow but it has never happened. I understand the metric championships that have been run at Ben Avery by the Desert Sharpshooters included F-Class and Jeff Huehn deserves the accolades and recognition as the 2017 winner.

ASSA is declaring there will be a Championship specifically for the F-Class Smallbore shooters. It will be conducted simultaneously with the ASSA Conventional Smallbore Prone Championship. The targets will be the A50, A51 and A33 for an as yet to be determined course of fire to determine a Smallbore F-Class Champion.

ASSA's position on the course of fire to determine a Smallbore Prone Champion is the 640 shot Creedmoor course of fire. 4 days of 160 shots per day. 40 Shots at 50 Yards. 40 Shots at 50 Meters. 40 Shots Dewar Match. Finishing with 40 Shots at 100 yards, in that order. This is the historical course of fire where the vast majority of National Champions earned their Trophy.

Should the F-Class be the same?

President ASSA

I'd vote for the traditional CoF.

As far as rules I'd just like to see ASSA clean up some without any major changes.
The 'free recoil' situation and the rules for what can go under the bipod or rest and bag are awful messes.

Will f-tr and f-open be recognized separately at the championship?

F-class would shoot the same 2 days twice while sling shoots iron/optical?

We are still developing the final match program which will provide additional details, including the final course of fire. As ASSA was alerted that there are some areas of the current rules that could benefit some clarification, we are reaching out to the F-class competitors for their input. Our organization is for shooters - by shooters and thus we are working to ensure that both the rules and championship details are in line with expectations.

Regarding multiple classes, etc. - such items are also directly impacted by the number of participants.

Thanks to everyone who has both expressed interest and provided input in this discussion.
Best Regards,
ken

If everyone is shooting the same cartridge, is there really a need for 2 different classes?

Is a rest worth even 1 point per hundred shots over a bipod?
That'd be 6 or 7 points for a championship over the proposed cof.

finding out might be the best reason to keep accurate track even if the awards are not separate.

From what I can find with weight limits TR is the same as with center fire...18.18 pounds with all attachments. I don't see what the Open is allowed.
Also, I believe it should be separate from TR and Open...my 2 cents.

smallbore open is 18.18lbs. That does not include the rest whereas TR does include the bipod.
For 22lr I'd call that totally insignificant.

So for smallbore rest vs bipod is 100% of the difference between classes.

Thanks to all for the questions and input to date.

As we are actively planning the championships, a key part is the level of interest from the smallbore F-class community. If you are interested, can you please send me a PM with your contact information - at a minimum your name and email address - so we can add you to the email distribution list?

Again, thanks to all for your interest.

Richard, do you know when and where the next Texas match will be?
Dean - my bet is Marble Falls the same time as the Texas State Smallbore Prone match.i think that is what they did last year. F Class is welcome at their monthly match’s also. Just contact TSRA Smallbore director

Interested competitors, sling and F-Class who would like to be included in our mail list, please visit our web site and sign up. http://www.americansmallbore.com/get-in-touch.html

As Ken stated, our organization was built by shooters for shooters and the input from an active community (of which this forum well represents) is invaluable in making the organization the best it can be.

To All:
Thank you for all of the interest in the 2018 ASSA Smallbore F-Class Championships.

Please note, this is not a PROVISIONAL match. This will be an actual championship conducted per American Smallbore Shooting Association in conjunction with the prone phase. The official program is being developed and will be released in the next few weeks.

Again, if you are interested in ASSA smallbore F-Class, please forward your name and email address to my attention at your earliest convenience.

The ASSA Smallbore F-Class rules are nearing completion, and our plan is to send the draft copy out to those who are best at reviewing and commenting to the rules - THE COMPETITORS! We are actively growing our organization FOR SHOOTERS BY SHOOTERS, so your interest and feedback only makes the organization - and competition - stronger.

Thank you in advance for your input. I also apologize in advance as I will be posting this on multiple forums in order to obtain as much input as possible.
