comparison between two Nightforce scopes ?

The glass is quite a bit better in the comp and the scope is lighter by a good bit. IDR exact numbers but along the lines of 28 vs 36 ozs. The BR glass is very, very functional vs the comp debatably being the best glass available in a benchrest scope. If you can stand the weight, the BR is an excellent value and has proven to be pretty much bullet proof, whereas the comps had a few issues over the years. Not a bad scope so don't take it like that, though. My next scope is likely to be another comp but I have zero complaints with the BR.

When comparing the price difference the BR is a better buy if you don't need the additional power. When you put a gun together poor or no planning make scope weight an issue. Proper planning allow you to use whatever you like.
The NF comp is world class optics, I’m not sure you could say that about the BR.

Like everyone else said the Comp glass is far superior. I love the glass in the Comp. The BR has 6 MOA turrets that are pain and front parallax vs 10 MOA turrets with a zero stop and side parallax for the Comp. BUT if either of the scopes are going to fail during a match it will unfortunately be the Comp. And NF will “never” find any wrong with it and it may or may not come back fixed..

The Comp glass is noticeably better than the BR!
Friend bought a BR recently, he despises the scope and complains every time he brings it to the bench. The front parallax adjustment is a nuisance, compared to side focus if you have short arms and setup square behind the gun.
You can pick up used Comps for not much more than new BRs if you are patient in the classifieds

I have 4 Nightforce competition and 2 benchrest scopes. The reasons I have more of the competition version over the BR, two main reasons, first off side parallax, and second weight. The bonus is the extra power.
All of them have good glass.

They stop tracking and holding POI. Relatively rare, but it happens.

As for the BR glass being bad...I wouldn't call it that at all but definitely not as bright and clear as the comp. But then again, I'm not sure anything is. Lambo vs Cadillac comparison.
Short story...When I first started in BR, I did like many with a Weaver t36. I found that my scores didn't get better or worse after going to a NF BR but that I felt better on the drive home. My eyes were much less fatigued. Weight and budget are the biggest factors because both are good imho. When I'm in the market again, I'd like to find a discontinued NF fixed 42x Competition model. I've not heard of any problems with those and they are considerably lighter.

Front vs side parallax on a bench gun isn't a big deal to me at all. I move it once at a match, typically, between yardages and that's about it. If it were optional, I'd take the side though.
I'm a fan of the BR but there is better glass out there. I've got one that I bought new in 2007. I've run it hard for what, 17 years and it's been perfect. No telling how many rounds fired with that thing. SWAG would be about 40,000-50,000 rounds.

I had a used NF-BR that I picked up To give me a little more
power over my Bushnell XRS 4.5-30 Elites. The Bushnell had
brighter glass in my opinion. Sold the BR and bought a Comp.
At 30 power I could not see much difference between the Busnhell
and the Comp. But now I had the power I was looking for. Amazing
until I bought the March High Master super ED. At short yardage
the Comp will hang with my March, as the distance gets longer, the
March pulls ahead.......For what it's worth, I also own a Burris 8-40
F-class. I will admit I would recommend this scope over the NF-BR
but it's very heavy.......I love that bracketed dot.
Get the NF- Comp if you can afford it. If not, may want to look at a
Sightron. Jeff Gate's, and I know others use them.

Hopefully it will always will be rock solid but shoot box test now and then. I had one that went south in the middle of a 1K match. Took it to 100 and shot a box test and it was a disaster. It happens.. I verified that gun was fine with my trusty old 12x42NSX. Then re mounted the Comp to check it again with same problem. NF of course “couldn’t find any problem with it”. They act your crazy even when tell them you verified the problem with another one their own scopes, and took the problem scope off and re mounted it to again re verify it.. The NF rep then told me my torque wrench had to be bad! Yes he really said that. I love the Comp glass and have owned a few and still have one, but after that last jerk me around comment I will never buy another NF Comp. The offending Comp was replaced with a Kahles. My best shooting bud just had a similar problem with one of his Comp’s and it got replaced by a March.

I will admit I was pretty torqued, LOLYour torque wrench must have been bad
Changed out my NF for a Kahles 1050 that I found for sale in a classified and love it!
Very clear and bright though the fine cross hairs and dot in the centre, especially the dot, can disappear against a black X ring under certain lighting situations {Just center up the cross hairs and go for it}
Compares favorably to my March Majesta that now sits on my long range 1,000yd rifle but have used it at that distance very successfully in the past.
Depending on your budget either one is a winner though be aware that the Majesta is a Heavy scope if weight is an issue for you.

the Kahles 10x50 is a tad better than the NF comp to my eye and the Magnification seems stronger on say 42x but I luv my NF comp, but the glass comparison a NXS is better glass than a NF BR imho and the NF comp is better than both to """"my eye""""
