Colt Trooper MK 111 Rimfire Revolver -- Nice Swap

Great thread here,,,, I have a few Colts and SWs. I may start a new thread w this question. What is the most accurate revolver you have owned? I had a Colt Python, older model, 4 inch, matte finish. Exceedingly accurate. I sold it for a very high price and bought a SW 28 no dash. I am thinking about buying a new/ old revolver. Can't chose between Jerry Miculek or performance center by Smith Wesson. or a 686. please give your experiences and specific models if you have any in mind. 357, 44 sp, most likely. Let 'er Rip!

I always kinda thought I was a real colt guy because I owned almost as many of them as S&Ws, but I must not be because I think you came into a real nice revolver. Enjoy it and if you ever get tired of it or become a "real" colt guy and get ashamed of it I will trade you something for it... John
Yeah, I have read years worth of material on the III trooper. and how bad it was. problem with that theory is that they were some of the most accurate DA revolvers made in last 60 years or so!! I have almost bought one half a dozen times. I do have the Lawman, which is pretty special in its own right.

PS, I had to click off the gunsinternational page just now. Near mint conditon Ithaca 37, 12 ga, vent rib. mint condition. dirt cheap to me. Get thee behind me.....

Gave my trooper with a 6" barrel to my grandson as a "welcome home" gift when he came home from Iraq..It was every bit as accurate and reliable as my 6" Python loaded with .38 WC's I used for the CF stage of 2700's when I used a wheel gun before shooting the CF and .45acp stages with a S&W Model 25

That thread title is kinda humorous.

I did not mention what he got in the trade, the values in monetary terms was about equal. The main thing is he got rid of something he did not want and got what he wanted, and I got rid of something I did not want and got what I wanted.
I really appreciate that, Jackie. It can be a rare sentiment as people become too attached to arbitrary dollar amounts and forget about intrinsic value. On that day, for you and your friend, those items had equivalent value and both of you came away enriched.

If you would, I would love to see some more of the match revolvers like you showed here once long ago. They were neat.

I never met an S&W or Colt revolver I didn't like or want to acquire.

But not being in Warren Buffet's financial position, I just had to dream about them when I saw one in the dealer's showcase. But oh, do I regret never purchasing a Colt Officer's Model Match, 6" barrel, in 22 LR back in the day. :(

Happy to see Ruger Blackhawk in 357 Mag mentioned as years back I had a Ruger Super Blackhawk with 6 inch barrel and it too was scary accurate. Sometimes I wish I still had it. I also had a Colt Python with 6 inch barrel and it had the polished blue finish that seemed like it was 1/4 thick. It was a beauty and it still is. I gave it to a grandson a couple years back. Then I msaw a used one for sale at Cabela’s that had a price tag of $3500.00 on it despite the fact it looked used and abuse.

The trooper MK III was the premium gun of the J frame series. Redesigned to use coil vs leaf springs, a transfer bar ignition system instead of firing pin on hammer and on. Made 69/83. Any COLT of that era is a wonderful revolver imo.

Was at the Cabela’s in Louisville, KY, yesterday, and saw the following Colt .22.
I want you to know that the supreme effort to resist such a Treasure was exhausting. I literally forgot why I was there for the first 10 minutes I perused the Gun Library..
I will say that wiping the drool off the top glass aided in taking the below images.;)

Oh my!!! What a beauty - I would have been "star struck" too!! But the price would have given me stomach acid. :(:(

Back in my misspent youth I owned a Trooper MK III in 357 Mag that I carried as a duty weapon. It was the 2nd most consistently accurate production revolver I have ever owned and I've owned quite a few over the years. The most consistently accurate was a Ruger Blackhawk in 357 Mag with a 4⅝" barrel that I bought in 1970.
I hope you still have it!
