coaxial rest mechanism

Hello all, does anyone have a drawing of a coaxial rest mechanism? I have looked for one on the net but obviously missed it. I am interested in fabbing my own rather than buying one. (more of being able to make one as an exercise in machining) thanks, Jim

Best thing to do is buy one then sell it for what you gave for it. Study which spherical bearings slide and which ones stay put

I was thinking it was a radial bearing anyway I got some of those bearings spherical or radial thinking the same thing but time was not allowing so I got one from
shade tree engineering and I'm happy with it.
So I have more time for other parts/things.
If you get the bearings and are mechanically inclined you will see what you want to do.
I still may make my own but it's funny how things start piling up you want to do or make when you get your own lathe/machines.

Russ,

Very nicely done. If you have any pics of the mechanism you feel like sharing I would love to see them. PM me if your more comfortable that way. Been thinking of building one for myself as well. Should be a fun project .Thanks Russ for any help you can provide.:D:D

Built bunch of them myself , mine used linar bearing , but most like SEB and Fairley use simple V notch and bar to facilitate movement.Bottom picts. Whole cassete is presed together by compression set screws , that is where linear bearings far outprefrom V notch slides as they have much wider range of tension adjustment . Counterweight like i ouse on my rest makes for smothest possible rest that does not require any springs.

Not what its about for me. And I believe you have done a great job for those who wish to purchase. I'm more of a DIY guy, great to learn how things work and what it takes to make something. Always gives me an appreciation for those who have done it before me.

This was kinda DIY ,First 2prototypes were built without any CNC machines ,after initial built design was improved and a small run of 10 was made with all the machining on CNC , none really sold commericaly ,4 were made for personal use for 3 of us that cooperated on the build ,1 was donated at a rafle and rest were sold for cost of materials and anodising (for under 300$) to buddies in our club ,sort of to kickstart more people into BR.

Design was tailored to Rimfire BR so slightly wider movement window to cover the 25 bulls with ease and due to linear bearings and counterweight is far smoother than ither Farley or Seb (have compared to both). We also constantly upgrade them,QC tops ,swivel top , one part base etc.

Next season upgrade might be a one part top for the edgewood 'new farley' design front bag i use ,rest use SEB front bags
