Coating for a bolt

The bolt in my action is not smooth enough, this is my 1000yd. heavy gun. It has a Lawton action and when I try to work it fast, the bolt is grabby. I have thought about having it coated with tungsten disulfide. Could some of you guys please give me some feed back, on what I should do. Thank you, Jerry

There is a product called bolt magic. It's a light lubrication for bolts. You may not have the space for a coating.

The more the bolt is worked in an action, over time, the bolt wears smaller or the receiver opens up. When this occurs there is a greater chance of the bolt getting out of alignment and sticking during the bolt stroke. Without going the new bolt route, try using your thumb on the rear of the bolt shroud to push the bolt forward, keeping your fingers on the bolt handle to close the bolt when the bolt goes fullyforward.

I had the same issue with my Lawton action. I don't think the put a lot of work into a final polish, obviously trying to lower costs. I lapped my bolt in, prior to barrel work and then apply "Bolt Magic" lube after each cleaning. It works slicker than snot on door knob now! Hee, Hee.

A high quality high percentage containing moly grease will make it like butter! A quality moly grease can have a coefficient of friction as low as .03! It can also be used on the back of your lugs to prevent galling, on triggers to lower pull weights, on barrel threads, and the list goes on.

Who makes the bolt magic lube. Thanks, Jerry
TruKote is the company that makes "Bolt Magic". Last time I bought it was from Dave Dohrmann along with some stock tape. I believe Sinclair carries it. I have had one bottle for ten years, all you need is one drop on the bolt!
