CMP 40x restocked by Jim Cloward w/ Pic

Jim Cloward recently finished restocking my CMP 40x in english walnut. The rifle also has a CG-uni trigger and Rightsight. The rifle will be used primarily as a winter training rifle for Palma, but hopefully we will sneak in a smallbore prone match now and then.

I think you should send the rifle to me (for proper barrel breakin and fine tuning) ;) This is a tiresome chore and looking at the condition of this rifle ::)it may take SOME time to do properly. Just trying to help a fellow shooter out ;D ;D... NICE OUTFIT

Ken,
I applaud your efforts (incredibly successful efforts IMHO!) to bring one of these old CMP rifles to the level of aethetic beauty & functionality it's entitled to. I'd love to see more of these rifles ''all dressed-up'' instead of stored in someone's closet.

I recently delivered one of my CMP M52Ds to a custom stockmaker & gunsmith, along with a very nice English walnut stock blank to give it similar treatment. I certainly hope it turns out as beautiful as yours.

That my friend.. is one beautiful setup! Hope that it is a joy to shoot and keeps you behind the plate.. I have a Win 52D in one of those rare Fajen International stocks.. it is a pure joy to shoot.. I was thinking about sending it to Butch next year to have him do some tune up on it.. pull the original bbl off and put it up and have a custom bbl on it.. so I too can use my Right Sight on it.. It sure is fun shooting 22 at 200 yards..

Ken, that sure is a good looking rifle. Stirs some thoughts about doing something similar with my old 40x .22. Love those 200yd .22 matches.

Whose stock manufacture is that one you used?

Ken,

Thank you. I will give Jim a shout once the left coast wakes up.

Is that a scope and receiver sight combo piece on top of the receiver?

"Is that a scope and receiver sight combo piece on top of the receiver?"
Actually no, the sight mount and rail are separate pieces. The scope rail is a 0 degree Cloward rail that Jim fitted to the receiver. The original sight mount was not high enough for the Rightsight, so Jim is installing a higher mount for me tomorrow.

I have a Leupold 6.5-20 EFR scope for any sight training and matches.
