Closed cell gun case foam

I've googled and binged, and searched pages and pages..
I cannot seem to find a chunk of high density closed cell replacement foam for my AR50 case.
.
I take that back,, I managed to find ONE place, but they want $100 for a piece of foam..
" Cases by source" is the only place I could find a chunk this large
.
Any other ideas ?

Oh yea. That might be tough to find. I paid about $8.50/ea for 26" x 15" x 2" pieces on ebay but I dont think I saw anything that size.

. Finding lots of smaller pieces for sure. I thought about taping them together, but that would probably look worse than what's in there now.. . I might try Americase on Monday, and see how much they want for a replacement chunk.

I used furniture replacement foam. High density, and comes in different thicknesses, so I took the total, bought 2 pcs of half the total. Cut them to size using an electric carving knife. Then cut the weapon outline on one piece and put the whole pc on the bottom, cut pc on top and rifle nestles fine. Threw in two small packets of the drier stuff and done.

That stuff is expensive. It might not be the answer that you're looking for, but I've bought sheets of 2" wall insulation. It's usually the pink or blue stuff. You can wrap it with a heavy fabric, like velour and it may work. It cuts pretty good with an electric hot knife. Just a thought and hope it helps. Unless you find something more in your budget, you might need to be a little creative.

Check commercial refrigeration places they will have true closed cell insulation on rolls 4-8' wide and x' long. They may sell you some or just give a piece. Brand name is Armaflex. I think thats how its spelled.o_O I have 1" thick stuff if that will help you out. You could double it up. Lay one piece down and then cut the other to fit your firearm.

Go to your local automotive upholstery place. I just had one re-do a ziegel case that holds 2 br guns upright. They rebuilt the whole interior of it for $75 and it actually took some work and sewing not just a chunk of foam

Bad brain fart,, That's what I do for a living,, sell plumbing and heating supplies.. I'll bet our pipe insulation comes in flat sheets.. And I could buy at employee cost. ..Duhhhhh.
