Cleaning Stainless Pins

Does any one here clean their stainless pins? I did several batches of some pretty nasty brass. I use Dawn, Lemonshine and hot water. Brass now comes out clean, but with a dull finish, not bright and lots of shine like it used to.

Time for a "non additive" CORN COB tumble. Doesn't make the brass shoot any better but it sure looks cool. :D

You need to clean your pins with degreaser. That dull finish is from lube that is not completely emulsified. Run your tumbler with just the degreaser, pins, and hot water then rinse with hot water.

If you are using a lanolin based lube, it also helps greatly if prior to tumbling you prewash the brass with degreaser to break down the lanolin oil. Do not use water in this step. A quick 60 second prewash and rinse prior to tumbling will give you a better result and also help with keeping the pins cleaner.

I found Brass Juice without the pins worked as good as the other stuff with pins. Scrap one barrel because of a wayward pin and you will quit using them.

This. Dillon lube is lanolin based. Once the tumbler and pins get so much lube on them it has no where to go so cases don’t get clean and look tarnished.

Strong cleaner and lots of hot water and rinsing and running with no cases.
