Cleaning rod shortening

Tipton rod I was given. Brand new. Is there any practical way to shorten this? Need to take at least a foot off.

Is the handle removable?

I have a Tipton that got stuck in a bore because patch was to tight and when pulling it out the handle came off, slide right off the carbon fiber rod, so you could probably heat the rod at the handle and pull it off and grind off to the lenght you want. I redone mine with super glue and haven't had any problems.
