I'm making some inserts for two piece rod guides. I've got .22, .20, and .17 Pro-shot rods to use for testing, and use aluminum for them....002 over rod diameter...and they work very well.. The Proshot rods I have are very uniform. I'd like to make some Delrin inserts for Boretech Borestix coated rods. I've made some 6" sample rod material to Boretech's listed rod dimensions, and have an excellent fit, but a potential customer asked about his .22 cal Borestix rod. He said the largest diameter on the rod is .197. Boretech lists thier .22 rimfire rod as .195. So, a .197 bored insert is not going to work on a .197 max rod. Is thier a minor inconsistency in the coating that I need to allow for?
I would appreciate it if someone who owns these rods could measure them and let me know how consistent the diameter is...in a p.m. please
I hate to spend $210 plus shipping for three rods I don't need. I'm not going to make much money on these, as I do it mostly to stay busy.
Thank you,
Gerry
