Cleaning Patches/Jags

Just wondering ,out loud, which cleaning rod jags you fellows are using.. I prefer the K.I.S.S. method I try to keep one patch size to keep it simple when buying patches.
I have been using "Old" Parker Hale rods (22 Cal) with 1 3/4' patch wrapped around the jag for 22 and "Speared" for 6MM.
My 17 Cal is cleaned with a Dewey Rod (17 Cal) with a 1 3/4" patch cut in Quarters and cut in half for 20 Cal both "Speared"
Thanx,
Jim

In conjunction with other jags and brushes, I use one of these. Like it a lot.

I've use Dewey rods (coated) and Dewey jags (pointed style) for many years and found them to be excellent.

Most patches I've tried tend to shed small threads in the chamber including some offered by some highly respected suppliers. The only patches I've tried that do not shed into threads are Hoppes. I buy them in bulk from Midway. They are undersized so I have to use a 22 mated with a 270 patch to achieve a firm fit in my 223's and 243's. Other than that, they work very well for me.

Butch's makes a new flannel patch that doesn't leave cotton fibers. work well and pretty absorbent. Started using Dewey rods and jags a few years back and haven't had any reason to try anything else. As for the sizes of patches i use, i do the same as hippy. I buy 2" and cut them up as needed. Have a 20 cal dewey rod for my various 20 cal and 22 RF rifles. Have a 22 cal dewey rod i use for my various 6mm and 6.5mm rifles. and a 7mm dewey rod for my 358 Norma. All dewey products have treated me very well.

For cleaners I use Remington 40X cleaning solvent, ProShot Copper Solvent, and WipeOut foam. Best combo of solvents I've used so far.

Used to use Butch's, Sweets, and Montana Xtreme but couldn't stand the overpowering amonia odors anymore and Butch's leaves copper behind. The solvents I use now (listed above) clean much better AND they don't have any odor! win-win situation for me :)

A good bore guide is key too. And with good solvents, you should never have to use a bronze brush on your bore. I only ever use dewey nylon brushes.

I use the Butch's patches as well. Buy for my 30 and cut for my 6's.

I prefore BoreTech rods. I have 2 rods of each diameter. One for the brush, one for the jag. You just don't have time to be changing from brush to jag at a match.

I use CarbOut and WipeOut liquids. I'll also use the WipeOut Accelerator at matches. I confess that I'll use a tad of Iosso to get rid of the carbon ring when I get one.

I use a spear jag a lot, but change to the O-ring jag I posted about above to get the stubborn stuff out of the grooves. I use nylon brushes when I have time, brass when I'm in a hurry. I want to try the new Iosso blue nylon brushes, but haven't had an opportunity yet.

Most of the time, I just shoot 25 or so at the range. When I get home, I really mop the barrel down with WipeOut and let work over night. The next day, I freshen up the WipeOut, brush 25 strokes with a nylon brush, then patch out thoroughly, ending with another patch of WipeOut. Bi let that sit, then patch out and check for copper. If necessary, I repeat till no copper.
