Cleaning of inside the bolt

What is the preferred method for cleaning the inside of the rifle bolt after removal of the firing pin assembly?

Good question. In all my years of shooting i have never done that. UH OH ???

Brake clean and a small tube brush to help loosen any foreign material like gunpowder etc that could be in there. You can buy gunscrubber for twice the price but I use brakleen by crc I believe.The cheaper brake cleaners on the market are too much like gumout. The company spells it brakleen. Any car parts store worth its salt should have it on the shelf.Do not get it on the stock or painted surfaces as it will melt varnish and oil and lacquer based products.I hold it barrel down to clean the chamber into a garbage can.It shouldnt be used indoors.

I 2nd the brake clean although i have used the walmart brand and it worked great also , ive even cleaned up triggers with the brake clean that are all gummed up for not being cared for and oil build-up worked like a charm

agree with above. i also use one of the canned air products and BLOW the crud out of the bolt. i poured cleaning solution(your choice) into the firing pin bolt shroud area and BLEW it out and HOLY MOLEY! black, brown and grey stuff came out, and i thought i cleaned my guns! i am amazed how much crud collects in the bolt. careful when you clean the trigger as some agents leave residue that will cause problems..i had a 2 oz shilen that would not fire UNTIL i lifted the bolt!!! thank god the rifle was pointed downrange. the trigger was full of grease. jewell advises flushing their trigger with "lighter fluid" every time you clean as a very small amt of oil can get into the trigger. clean is good.

For those worrying about stock finishes, electronic cleaner works well & won't hurt most finishes.

I like brake cleaner also, followed by pressured air from my compressor. After the junk is out, I spray the interior assembly and spring with Ballistol. Put a few drops of lighter fluid in the trigger assy. Be sure to lube the bolt lugs and cocking piece eccentric.
