Cleaning new 6mm Creedmoor

It is just fine>>>>for the time being... Those black streaks are hard carbon. That carbon can and WILL build up over time. When I get a new barrel, every 3-400 rounds I give it a good "JB"ing"... Once a significant amount of firecracking sets in, I "JB" it after every match. Those cracks and crevasses grab hold of BOTH carbon and copper. They will build at an astounding rate in a firecracked bore!

Thanks for posting that video -- quite interesting.

Who made the barrel?
Who did the chambering?
What is the land/groove configuration?

Your video is starting at the muzzle end and moving back towards the throat (seen @ 01min 20sec time mark)?

For carbon, I've had very good luck with Carb-out on wet patches plus dual applications of Wipe-Out applied while barrel is warm. I think getting to the carbon BEFORE it hardens is important.

Regarding JB, I don't like using abrasives, and have not found them necessary on my better barrels. YMMV.

The last measured group out of my best barrel was about a 0.15" for four shots at 100. Never used abrasives. Not once in 800+ rounds. Lots of wet patches and dual doses of Wipe-Out about every 60-70 rounds (after a match).

Yes

I used to use Wipe Out until I tried the Bore Tech Carbon remover on a barrel I had cleaned with WipeOut and patches came out black.

I'm intrigued because patches glide through this thing in stark contrast to my 308. Hence posting the diameter of my jag. I've ordered another brush as the 6mm one I purchased had a female coupling rather than male.

I'd like to try to keep this things clean from the get-go.

I'm struggling to get this new barrel looking clean. It's had just 99 rounds through it. Bore Tech copper and carbon removers don't seem to get it any cleaner. Patches come out clean. Patches seem to glide through the barrel with absolute ease. My cleaning jag measure 0.18". Here's a vid starting at the muzzle.

Looks clean to me. How does it shoot?

Shoots ok. I haven't worked up a load for it yet. This is fire forming brass at 100 yds. I just want to look after it and prevent hard to solve problems from occurring.

Did you shoot 99 rounds before cleaning it?

I've never experienced heavy fouling in a new rifle, even a factory rifle. I clean initially with Hoppe's No. 9 and a bronze brush to remove any lube / preservative in the barrel. After that I clean every 10 to 12 rounds with Bore Tech products (see below) for about three shooting sessions then resort to my normal cleaning routine which is about 30 to 40 rounds.

I've found Bore Tech products to be very effective and I use their two part system, i.e. Carbon remover followed by copper remover. On my rifles these products are highly effective in removing carbon and copper. I do use a bronze brush with the carbon remover.

Let you targets tell you how effective your cleaning procedure is. I do believe that there has been more harm done to rifle barrels by improper or over cleaning than shooting them.

It's been cleaned 3x now. This is the first time I decided to look with the borescope. This last outing was 49 rounds. (35 rounds the outing before. 15 first outing.) (I accidentally neck turned one of my Lapua cases too much and binned it.)
