Cleaning 30br vs 6mm (Br & ppc)

NC/Br Shooter

Silver $$ Contributor
After rewatching another episode of "Believe the Target" with Jack Episode two. They are taking about cleaning. Jack is talking about cleaning every match basically and how important it is. Back when I first watched it the first time, I started cleaning and built my second bench gun and started having good groups.
He's taking about ppc benchrest,
Do 30br shooters clean like 6ppc shooters clean?
Reason I ask,is because I thought at one time the only time I shot a 30br , I thought told me he never cleaned his. And his wife's gun. Given, they didn't win. But I swear, I believe he told me that. I know you get better bbl life out of 30br than 6mm

I shoot both in IBS score matches. The PPC generally gets cleaned in the middle of the agg (after match #2 ~ 25 rounds) and the 30 BR gets cleaned at the end of the match. This is dependent on the powder I am using and only a generalization based on what the target feedback is. FWIW I clean the .222 HV every other match ~ 18 rounds.

The top majority of the top shooters clean after every relay!

They do this because it assures that their rifle is at its peak shooting condition.

Will it shoot worse if it's clean¿????? Of course not!

Will it become fouled enough to shoot less accurately than it does clean?????? Maybe, but why would you risk it if you know it's at its best clean?

Finally, all top shooters know proper cleaning methods will not wear out a barrel, and know how to use the proper equipment to clean properly!

So, if you want to assure your best chance at winning,,, what would you do? I'll clean, rather than roll the dice and gamble!

Your pretty much spot on but your overlooking a major fact. Most are are looking for one thing. Less work. Those who won't listen or observe what the winners do are just looking for someone to agree with them. Maybe shooting over layers of carbon and copper mean your not really wearing your barrel out?
