Clausing Lathe

Fellas, I’m going to check out a Clausing Atlas, looks to be a 5310 model. 1 3/8 bore and 32-36” between centers.
Curious if anyone has used one of these, thoughts? Seller did say the clutch needs adjustment, big problem or just a little work?
Thanks!

You might want somebody that knows them to check it out. Tell him to adjust the clutch. Search and you will find them from $1000-$1500 in good shape.
I did use a friends Grizzly 4003G last Saturday to help him with a chambering job. I came away impressed with how it worked.

Ended up bringing it home. Clutch looks like linkage needs tightening.
Only other issue is the power cross feed level will not engage. I think I need to tear down the apron and clean it up. In fact whole machine could use a good cleaning.

I’ve chambered many hundreds of barrels on a 5310. Cant help with the clutch, never had to adjust it. With a chuck about the shortest barrel you can get through the headstock around 19”-20”. Overall it’s a good medium duty lathe with plenty of room for longer work.
