Classification ?

Correct. But they will see the 120 consecutive shots and classify based on that. Regardless of other scores after those during the league season

Thanks for the help everyone

Doesn't this mean The scores can not all be submitted at the end of the year if a club shoots several matches a year?? But within 30 days of firing the match. I found this on or about page 74 of the current Rule concerning approved and Registered matches.

11. Reports to NRA—The Match Director is responsible for making certain that the following reports are forwarded to NRA within 30 days of firing.
(a) An SR-1 card for each competitor showing the total number of shots fired in individual matches and a total score; the total number of shots fired in fired team matches, and the total score of the fired team match(es). The NRA membership ID number must be indicated on each card for classified competitors and NRA members who are not yet classified. Score Reporting cards are available free of charge upon request in packs of 50.
(b) A registration fee reporting form, and remittance of $4.50 per com- petitor.
(c) A copy of any Match Director’s Bulletins.

I don't know. You PRESUME that the NRA will enter the scores in chronological order. You PRESUME that the scores will be sent by the league in chronological order. That's a lot of presuming.

I had never heard of a club sending in a year or a season's worth on scores as a matter of course until I read it on this forum. I've always sent in the monthly scores about 4-5 days after the matches I'm not even sure how you would send in a bunch of scores, or why you would let them accumulate in the first place. I'm sure someone has a reason to do that, but I think it goes against the concept of the classification in the first place.

The match director at a club I shoot in told me he sends all the scores in at the end of the year also. Also Iv'e waited way more that 30 days for the match results. That is seriously aggravating to competitors that put much effort and money to shoot these matches. After much feedback from the shooters on this, the club is starting to read the Rules and clean up their act.

I guess I need to contact match director

This is why I'm confused. I read the rules but still was confused

Did you get a new classification card this spring? I never got a new one... Still on my old one from a couple years ago. I knew I shot poor and not much last year but I figured I would at least get a new one. Matt

Hi All,

This may or may not help, but you can always shoot under the higher classification until your new card catches up to you (Except for High Master).

From the NRA: After the first tournament, the new competitors are required to maintain the Temporary Score Record Book as their temporary classification. They must use this temporary classification and keep their Score Record Book up to date until they receive their official NRA classification. Each classification card has an effective date which makes the Score Record Book obsolete. The shooter must compete in the classification earned in all tournaments of that type of shooting or a higher one if they so choose See NRA Rule 19.8. NRA does not issue Temporary Classification Cards.

All match directors do it their way and in many (most?) (all?) cases, these people are unpaid volunteers. It takes time to fill out the paperwork for the NRA, and more so when it's a registered match.

During my time as MD, I used my Excel skills to create a spreadsheet that enabled me to produce the match report, the accounting for the match and the NRA report semi-automagically. It took several matches to get to that point, but at the end the longest part of the task was entering the scores. Once the scores were in, the rest followed quickly with just some copy/paste and a few adjustments.

I do not know what the other MDs are using, but I was not aware of any app that would do the reports so it does take time for an MD to do the paperwork. And I mailed the printouts to the NRA, there was no way to upload the results.

All that to say, be patient with the MDs.

Where can one find this temporary record book?

You can order it right from the NRA (and it is free -I think you might have to pay shipping). You might get a few and give them to your local match director to hand out to other new competitors.
