chuck mount plate ?

i have an older enco 12x36 gear head lathe. it has been working very well so far. a little maintenance intensive but over all nice for what i do.

here is my issue, i would like to order some extra chuck mounting plates , the manual does not specify other tahn part numbers that dont seem to exist any more . I have no idea where to start and my google fu is weak today.

it is a cam lock style mounting plate with 3 posts and the through hole is 1.5" so i am going to guess maybe a d1-3 plate is correct but before i drop money i wan t to be sure.

any ideas where to find, how to measure , or determine what plates i need? thanks for the help.

Just about all Chinese 12x36 lathes are D1-4 mounts. you can buy backplates, faceplates, and various adapters from any of the normal tool supply places.

You can double-check against these dimensions to confirm you have D1-4.

If you find you have a D6, let me know as I have a brand new short profile chuck perfect for gunsmithing work. Basically 4 bolts on a slim chuck to replace your 4 jaw

Grizzly Industrial has all of that type of stuff for gunsmith lathes and tools. Nice to deal with.

It's a D1-4 with a 5 Mt head chuck . Encourage and Grizzly has all you'll need . A couple of suppliers in California with so so Chinese collet chucks , face plates etc.
They require drilling , but most do .
