Chronograph

A couple of days ago I watched a very small part of a video on a chronograph. It's shaped kind of like a LabRadar. It is a new product with 2 guys talking about it. The unit screws onto a round type of base. Now, I can't find it Help!

About 24 minutes, but by the time he is done you get a pretty good look at some of the other BC and dope calculations that are built into their app.

In other places, the reviewers are running the unit and saying it is good at capturing shots because it is triggering when the radar senses a fast target, rather than triggering on a microphone or shock sensor.

The battery is built in and seems like the unit will also accept external power if necessary.

Units are just now hitting the retailers and the reviewers have had them for several months.

At $999 it won't be for everyone.

Someone needs to purchase this and compare to Labradar and Andiscan.

So far I like my Andiscan due to form factor and accuracy.
The one thing that bothers me about the FX is that it doesn't accommodate an SD card. If one is saving data on a desktop computer, one need to hook up one's phone to the computer to do this and that can be a challenge for some.

I agree.
It isn't the same as pulling the card and putting it in your laptop, but I think it would still be pretty easy to transfer the files from your tablet or phone vie email or cable. The SD card was very convenient for sure.

I grabbed a LabRadar early on because I was already familiar with that company and knew what was coming out, but since then I have held off on the new units and I'm kinda glad I waited. This one and a few others are still getting hashed out by the early adopters and I'll wait to see how it turns out.

I do like the idea that it triggers on the return signal rather than muzzle blast or a external trigger. It is frustrating if the shot is missed when doing a load development. And if their BlueTooth connection is reliable, it also saves lots of frustration at the bench. But then again, it isn't a cheap change even if one lets go of their LR unit to get this one. Time will tell.

Thanks for posting this video review, @RegionRat (and also for cross-posting to the Reloading Forum, as I almost never spend time over here in the Gear Talk section).

As I discovered a couple months ago when I dipped my toe into the airgun world, FX is a heavyweight in that world. And their $200 pocket chronograph is pretty impressive.

I can't wait for there to be more competition in the doppler chrono market. Current prices are too high. Alas, my guess is that the not-very-different-from-the-LabRadar form factor of this new FX chrono will, along with its price, put a pretty significant headwind in front of it.

I've been a happy user of the LabRadar since its release. I'm currently evaluating the AndiScan v2 chrono (a personally-purchased unit) and hope to make a detailed post on it in a few weeks. What I'll say for now is that the AndiScan is a compelling product in a couple of different ways - and definitely moves the goal posts. But it also has a profound weakness.

Here's to more doppler!

Once you learn how to setup/use the andiscan the Labradar will be set aside! I keep mine mounted on my front rest.68480980451__647D1824-DD79-4B50-B9F3-ABC3AC99138E.jpeg

@lawrence97 can you post a picture of how you have mounted the AndiScan to your T-Rex?
I no longer have the t-rex and that’s the only picture I could find. I used a flat piece of aluminum, drilled several holes so that it would allow the 1/4x20 mount included with the AS. Then I attached the piece of aluminum to the forend stop bolt (might need a longer bolt).

I am an airgun guy now due to the exorbitant gouging going on with primers and powder. I bought the $200 model first, and it works well with its limitations noted.
This new model is going to own the market. Two reasons:

1. portability. I can haul it around hunting Rockchucks and have a complete record of the shots. Take the unit home, and file everything.

2. ease and accuracy. 400-4000fps range, and fpe as well.

I am by no means a techno-geek, and this unit does everything I need/want.

Oh, yes; I killed a nice Rockchuck at 82 yards with one shot. 22 caliber, 40gr HP H&N Slug at 960fps/82fpe ME.
