Chronograph

I need to buy a chronograph and I am wondering what the best "bang for the buck" is?
I do not want the cheapest one nor do I want the most expensive.
I am an avid hunter and hobby shooter and need to develop loads for both.
Thank you one and all for your time and priceless information.

Before the Ohler resumed hobby chronograph production and other good products came on the market more recently, I went through a few. I settled on a CED millenium 2000. It has served me very well for 7 years and has not malfuntioned once unless the battery needed to be changed. I have been through 2 batteries.
Perhaps more importantly is the chronograph that you do not want to buy. Whatever you do, read the next sentence two or three times.
STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM A PACT PROFESSIONAL XP!!
There is not enough bandwith on this forum to elaborate on the poor experience that I had with the original, the exchanged repalcemnt, or the one I sent back to have fixed, not to mention the terrible experience that I had with the company in TX that manufactures it.

I'm pleased with my Chrony Beta Master. Remote readout, and either 6 10-shot groups or 10 6- shot groups. Easy setup on a tripod using a ball head and quick connect. Reasonably priced and great for the occasional user. I think I paid about $135 a while back from either Sinclair or MidWay or Amazon.

I have 2 friends with the pact with no problems,I would say that there is a lemon in every manufacturers logbooks so to speak. I have called them and have had good relations with them in the past.

If you shoot low enough to hit this thing, you should pack it up and leave.

A search will reveal many threads on this subject. For rifle, I'd pick either a MagnetoSpeed or CED, depending on your intended uses. For pistol I'd go with either the CED or Chrony.

Have had a CED for quite a spell. The only time I have issue is under cloudy conditions, but the IR screens solve that. Was able to stack mine end to end with another CED on 2 occasions and they were within 5 FPS each time, which I thought was pretty amazing. The CED sets up fairly quick compared to my old Oehler P35.
