www.shootingchrony.com has special considerations for these types of situations. Don't ask how I know. See the products section and you can trade in or up grade. Call them up they are very good to work with. Oh, they are not water proof either.

I didn't call yet, but it looks like I can get the parts for $69 according to thier website.

Replace it with a CED Millenium-II. They put the electronics on the bench and nothing expensive (just plastic/aluminum) in the line of fire.

I've been looking at the CED. There is one for sale here in the classifieds but I don't think it is verII. I've read a lot of bad reviews on the earlier models, but I love the features.

Get a Steinert Superchrono one time. It sits about 20" below your line of sight and measure a total of 50" or so above the unit with about 30" width and there are NO light bars to play with. Super sensitive to sonic waves. New models coming out soon with wifi or bluetooth to an ipad or phone I think. Or....you could get the Chrony fixed.

I like a lot about the magnetospeed, but I don't think I can get past not being able to chrono and work loads at the same time.

I'm looking forward to the day when sensors are bedded into the barrel channel and we just have a little headphone jack that plugs directly from your rifle to the chrono, or maybe scope manufacturers put a doppler on the tube and reports the speed through the eyepiece.
