Christmas alone

A lot of people experience Christmas alone. After my mom passed away I spent 4 years spending the holidays all alone. People really don't even understand what the word alone means. Until they experience it for themselves.

I have only spent the holidays alone when I lived in Japan for 5 years. The holidays would come and go as they don't really celebrate Xmas over there, and there's no TG either. I had taken my wife out once but hadn't seen her for a number of months and a friend of mine invited me over to his house for TG. As it turned out, my wife was renting a room from him and his wife and both of them were cooking...a turkey is pretty unheard of in Japan. All of his friends were single foreign men...except for his wife and my (now) wife.

Anyway, I just lost my mom a couple months ago, so I can kinda sorta relate, but my own family is much closer than my own family was. It is bringing me and my sisters together some...but truth be told, I don't think we'll ever be as close as my wife and kids are.

My Mother-In-Law is 96 years old and unfortunately in Japan. I don't know if I'll even make it that old.

Congrats for finding your SO, may both of you live a long happy life together!

i'm 71 years young. My wife passed in 1992. I raised my kids by myself. very religious at the time and never really found that special someone so Christmas and all the years to date have been " Alone ". Because of my relationship with Christ it's not really being alone . As scripture says " A friend that sticks closer than a brother ". I dont refer to it as alone. Its time by yourself. No one really knows why we have times like this. There has to be a higher purpose. I have to say without the presence of Christ in my life I believe I would be much worse off. But a lot of prior posts hit the nail on the head. Friends and family are key to surviving " Alone " and stay busy. Scripture again " I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me " God bless to all and have a merry Christmas. Bruce

I pray that God blesses you with a peace that surpasses all understanding not only today, but every day of your life.

Merry Christmas! Here, I'll leave this that I wrote last night, should give you a laugh!!
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house

Frankie wasn’t stirring and Sandy sure wasn’t quite as a mouse!

The tree was decorated from tip to toe

But nowhere in the house was found ANY mistletoe!

Sandy is yelling and screaming “it’s for real”

Get up get up! We got taters to peal!

Frankie was ready for an 8 hour nap

But Sandy was running ‘round and had on a funny hat!

When we all settle in for that long nights sleep

Remember we celebrate because we are Christ sheep!

Merry Christmas and many blessings to you all! Ho ho ho

None of us is ever alone as Jesus is with us every step of the way.
