So I know chlorinated brake clean is corrosive, but I've been told that it will cause microscopic cracks on springs, and those cracks will cause premature failure of said springs.
I know that if you don't immediately oil a metal part that has been de-greased completely it will rust, I'm positive that rust will cause rivulets (that look like cracks) from it degrading the metal.
But besides that, how could using chlorinated brake clean cause microscopic cracks?
