Chipmunks?

how do you get rid of these little critters? No shooting options as this is in a city neighborhood. So looking for alternative to rid of them.

what are they doing that bothers you?

Home made blow gun. Air soft size .117 bb's??? . We take a 1/2" conduit and the barrel shaped ear plugs cut in half. The grand kids and I have wars inside or out. They learn and love it. No reason you can't modify it to your needs a little.

I have a steal 250 gallon tank. When the water is about 6 inches from the top I bet it kills a critter a day.

Live traps also work very well.

My next door neighbor uses a Victory wooden rat trap. He slides a shelled peanut onto the trap pan and places the trap along their travel ways. It works well...

I've seen where they dug in our flower beds but they have never caused enough damage to make me want to kill them. If I ever had the urge to kill them the rat trap idea would probably be the first thing that I would try.

Neighbor leaves a 5 gal pail out with about an inch of sunflower seed floating in 8 inches of water, parks it right next to the stone wall they run. Splash, blub, game over

A Jack Russell Terrier will rid them in short order. Of course Rabbits, Squirrels, Groundhogs, Rat's, Mice, birds and any other furry or feathered thing it can catch is dead also. They are killin' machines!

I've battled those little rodents for over 20 years at our home in the woods. We always had a couple of Goldens for many years and they "hated" the buggers with a passion. I'd find them "mouthed" to death laying in the yard all the time. Kept the population down. Last several years no dogs and they started chewing up the landscape light wiring and tunneling thru everything. .22 pistol with bird shot or get a pair of Golden retrievers! Pellet pistol or rifle would work just fine "in city". I keep a couple around for "seed" and when I notice too many out comes the pistol with bird shot. They're so tame, probably could club them with a stick too! Eric in DL

Chippys are like the tweekers of the rodent world. They never run out of energy for getting into the places you want to keep them out of. If you live in the piney woods, you'll never be rid of them. Best you can hope for is to keep the quantity down, and "varmint proof" the important stuff. Doesn't take long to realize that they're not as cute as they first looked - more of an evil scourge. jd

The 5 gal bucket with water & sunflower seeds has worked great for me. Just use a small board as a ramp & keep top surface of water covered with seeds. Will also catch any mice in the area. Most effective method I have tried.

This is highly effective. They love peanut butter also. My sister and brother-in-law have removed 45 of them in about 3 weeks. They filled a 5 gal. bucket about 3/4 full, covered the water with floating sunflower seeds, smeared some peanut butter down inside the bucket, set up a ramp, problem solved. I have used a modified version of this for nearly 5 decades to control nice in outbuildings. It is the better mouse trap!

Here in NE Pa chipmunk numbers must be at an all time high. Virtually every time I'm driving the backroads, I see chippies darting across the road. A regular from our daily morning coffee BS session claims he is up to #36 this year.....all with-in 50 yards of his house and outbuildings. His weapon of choice is .22 LR w/ birdshot- the original crimped stuff, which is pretty much unobtainium today.

If you really want to have some fun, take a big rat trap, set it and turn it upside down with the flat portion up. Put sunflower seeds on it hide and watch. I bet it launches those little farts 4 ft in the air! Funny as all get out.
Of course this doesn't take care of your problem as it doesn't do them any harm.
