Cheek rest/riser for LA/XLA

Nearing completion on a M1917 build, I need to add about 7/8" height to the comb to properly align my eye to the scope. These are very long actions and I don't necessarily want to take a bandsaw to the brand new stock.

Wondering which strap on risers or just pads people use that are not cheap air soft grade made in China junk. I can probably drill a couple index holes for a hard riser with pins and put the pad over it, or if there is a 1" high pad model that will work with a LA that might be better yet.

Look at the Bradley line of strap on cheekpieces. Even have a variable height model. Pricey but well thought out with nice features that won't mar the finish.

Wow, they are proud of those Bradley cheek risers! I don't doubt the quality, but for that money I can buy the hardware to make an adjustable from the stock.

I picked up a Voodoo Tactical strap on with a padded riser for under $20 to try right now, but I am also working on a fixed one with some ABS plastic sheet. I'll try out the strap on one first before I drill my stock. All that would be needed are two threaded inserts, screws and long spacers (like stock pillars). Here's a pic of the ABS one...

If you have enough meat in the stock and have the tools to cut it, and adjustable cheek piece is the way to go. but be sure you have the fix turning built right.

I agree, and yes I have the tools and capability to perform the surgery properly, it's just this being such a long action (longer than modern LA) I'm not sure how much I would like the look of the riser starting so far back on the monte carlo. I'm exploring my least inexpensive/intrusive options first... but haven't ruled out adjustable hardware entirely.
