Cheapest but Adequate 22lr Ammo for 100yd?

Any recommendations for the cheapest ammo that can hold the 10-ring of the NRA 100yd smallbore target? This ammo will be used for practice. Tenex is too expensive for practice and I am not a regular smallbore competitor.

Steve, the Wolf/SKS comes in two grades, even the lower of the two grades will fill your needs. We've had more than one 1600 shot down here with it.

German
Is it SK Standard Plus and Wolf Match Target ?

Match EPS is cheaper. They brought in some Club EPS but I think they discontinued it.
Is the Match EPS, the black box ammo? This stuff is still expensive but not as outrageous as Tenex.

Steve, yes, that's it - thanks, I couldn't remember the name. It's the same ammo with different labeling, even the price is the same to the penny (at Bruno's) so buy whichever you find with equal confidence.

I've found that SK Pistol Match Special works very well in my rifle... I just picked up a few lots to test.

I would personally buy a few of the Wolf/SK varieties and give them a shot.

I'll probably buy a box of the SK/Wolf, and equivalent Eley and RWS from Bruno since he is nearer to me but he no longer sells Aguila.

Aguila Super Extra, Aguila Golden Eagle Target, Eley Sport...

I have found all three of these to give very good accuracy for the price range they are in. I like the Eley Sport the best.

Joe, I've found the Aguila Super Extra inadequare for 100yd.

Great info. It seems that Aguila Match will work at 100yd.

I haven't found anything that will hold the 10ring at 200yd.

Most of the standard velocity ammo works for me where I live as the Speed of Sound is 1117 fps on my average (or typical) shooting days. The Aguila Super Extra goes transonic at 4 - 5 yards from the muzzle according to the Engel Ballistic Calculator. I wonder if this has something to do with why I've had good luck with it? :)

Joe, what is your average score for 10 shots on the 100yd target? By 'adequate", I meant that 10 shots will go within the 10ring on a no-wind day with an occasional 9.

I fired some Eley Club today out of my new Suhl. At 50 yds it shot surprisingly well. Actually out shot some Eley Black box I tried. I moved out to 100 yds and fired about 10 rds of the Club into a 2" high by 3" wide group which I was pretty happy with as the wind was really blowing and I didn't put out flags past 50 yds.

Now 200 was a different matter. I think my rifle has a slow twist and I was getting 3 or 4 feet of vertical. Probably tumbling by then.

Mine's not quite that good Steve. I'd say on an average day with mild wind conditions I can now come away with scores in the mid to high 80's and low 90's with the Aguila. I did squeeze out a questionable 96 one day with my scoped Savage MK II-FVT, but that isn't common for me as I can turn right around and shoot an 85.

I would expect the Wolf and Sk is much better. I do get tighter groupings with the Eley Sport at 100 yards - then I do with both the Aguila Super Extra and Golden Eagle, but it's been awhile since I've shot paper with all three. Anymore I enjoy the 200 yard 4x5 and 5x7 gongs, and 100 yard 3.5 dia. metal spinner.
