Charlie Kirk Shot and Killed

We saw it by now. More than just a 1/8th of a phone screen. Right to left side of Mr. Kirk’s neck. Although not even remotely the “subject” of this video, captioned on screen and easy to find on YouTube, where I froze the screen of the crowd’s early reaction, the shooter is almost certainly captured in the decent quality video, and starting to retreat.

What area I circled corresponds to my perception of the angle of the shot, but it could also have been to the left of the circle. See what you think.

Edit: yesterday in an early video I saw something about the impact that made me think the shot was directly from the right, but I can’t find that now and the subject that ran was on the roof in front, not to the right.

When terrible events like this occur, I think about the below quote and wonder if this is the one that will lead to an uprising

That POOR FAMILY didn't deserve any part of this !!! But this country does !! Queensberry rules didn't work against the Vietcong and it won't work against the Democrats !! I have known for many years that me and my family are on our own 'even though we live in a town of 56k . The Republic is worth saving or it is not simple as that . Either let it go or save it , by any means it takes it has come to that point !!
 
I'm at a loss for words. What has become of this country. The people who are fomenting and funding this violence need to be brought to justice. At one time I believed that there are a great many more good people this world than there are evil people. As I watch and read both conservative and liberal news (it is important to understand what the socialists and communists are thinking) I no longer believe that is true. It's not just CNN, MSNBC, NPR, CBS, NBC, ABC, NYT or the European rags, people who I have known for decades are posting the most divisive and angry screeds on Facebook that I have ever seen. I no longer know who they are. I no longer know what country I live in...

I'm not a very political person, wife and I stopped paying for cable a while back because all it did was depress us. I followed Charlie on various social media platforms and his way of getting through and speaking from logic and history made so much sense to me. He was someone I admired both for his courage to stand in front of angry and aggressive crowds and not back down, and how he did it with a smile.

My first impulsive thought was 'scorched earth'....but that's not going to help much is it?

We need to stand together or fall apart. I, for one, am tired of falling apart.
 
Unfortunately, assassinations are nothing new in the US. Our current POTUS almost suffered the same fate. I don't have the answers, but whatever they are, they're going to have to be proactive, not reactive.
A lot of what is being taught at college campuses has a lot to do with it.
The kids are taught that crap from the minute they enter school. They give them hormone shots if the kids want them or tell them it is okay and normal for girls to be boys or boys to turn into girls. It's about population growth on one hand while the other hand is encouraging more illegal immigrants to help pay for all the government programs to help them and encourage bigger families to help pay for it with more taxes. It really is insane.

Those using this quote as justification are willing and wanting "guilty until proven innocent." Which civil liberties are deemed "safe?" Which only means safe for the government, not the people, and to which I ask, how much control is enough?

The simple answer is zero. As was written by Jefferson in the preamble to the DoI, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."  To which I'll add that right behind the freedom of speech is a right to keep and bear arms. "Shall not be infringed."
 
I read a book in 96-97 called Unintended Consequences by John Ross.

It's a work of fiction but there's a lot of historically accurate material in there and the fiction part of it is about a quiet citizenry that has just been "not left alone".

I loaned it to many friends and family to read and asked them to initial the cover page. I just went and looked, there's a dozen sets of initials in there.

R.I.P. Charlie Kirk. You will be missed. No one else has been able to do what you did.

Maybe someone out there will pick up the mantle.

I’ve read it twice. My father recommended it to me decades ago. It’s a long read but it’s excellent. I second your recommendation.

I’ve already commented on the thread but I’ll add that I am stunned at the shameless celebration of today’s event. So many in our wonderful country lack a moral compass, it’s disheartening. At the same time so many our celebrating Charlie, his words, his faith and his actions. That’s encouraging.

I can tell you were I was when Challenger failed and I will always be able to see and feel today’s events the rest of my life, unfortunately.
