Charles Daly/Zatava mini action

Not long back at a local show I bought a Charles Daly/Zatava rifle chambered it 204 Ruger. Its a beautiful little rifle and from no more than I have shot it, it is looking to be a tack driver. Someone spent a lot of time and I'm sure a few dollars building this rifle. But..it has an issue, it won't feed a round out of the mag box. It's like they are to long and get hung up coming out of the mag into the chamber. It's not a big deal to shoot it single shot but I wouldn't mind getting it to feed. Any suggestions?

These types of problems can be frustrating but often they are correctable.

I'm not familiar enough with that action to give exact guidance, but is it a control round feed or push feed action?

I bought a Zastava M85. Barrel was bad. Eventually re-barreled it in 300BO. Then had FTF issues because the sear was dragging. Finally got that corrected. Hoping to get it back out after the deer hunters clear out of the range.
Hope yours isn't a problem child. Neat rifles. Execution? Not good on mine.

I have tried a factory Zastava 223 and found it pretty smooth in it's operation.
Also sitting in my safe is a Zastava action and it is pretty rough compared to the factory rifle, sort of like chalk and cheese.

I've also seen latter ones where the receiver was very well polished and the front receiver ring wasn't even round anymore, it was significantly thinner on one side compared to the other.
