Changing ammo

I have a bergara bmr that shoots black box tac ok and cci sv ok. When I try others I have on hand for groups say 3-4 five shot groups is that enough to see how the rifle likes that particular ammo ? Should I be cleaning it between different ammo to give it a fair shake ? Will it come back in without cleaning ? Thanks

Most people will tell you to clean when switching to another brand for best results. They're not wrong. That considered best practice. However, through the years I've that if I shoot a 5 round fouling group the subsequent groups are usually what they should be

When you're seeing what ammo your rifle "likes" it's important to keep in mind that different lot numbers of a given brand can vary quite a bit. So you can get a of say SK Rifle Match that shoots just ok. You might think your particular rifle doesn't really "like" that ammo in general. But don't be so quick to discount it. You can get a different lot that shoots fantastic. So make sure you shoot a few different lots before deciding on a favorite brand
