Changes to my 6BR do to varminting off rests

Hey guys, I have made some recent changes to my 6BR. Lately we have been doing alot of varmint shooting of bags and rests. I originally had my rifle built on a Manners T4A stock,AWESOME STOCK). When I had the rifle built, I thought I was going to be doing more shooting off the ground. Well as it turns out, I am doing a bunch of varmint shooting off of my rest, and I have also decided it's about time I try my hand at bench rest competition.

The Manners T4A does a pretty good job shooting of rests and bags, however, it does not perform nearly as well as the flat bottom stocks. All of my varmint hunting buddies have gone to flat bottom type stocks for shooting off bags and rests. Last weekend, I shot my buddies 6BR, and he has a Shehane Tracker on his rifle. It was so much smoother and more controllable during recoil. There was no torque and the rifle just slid right back into my shoulder instead of jerking. I have used flat bottoms stocks before, however, it's been a while. I forgot how well they work off rests or bags. So, I decided to make a change.

I wanted to put my 6BR into a McMillan Tooley MBR stock, however, the wait was 6 months. So, I put an add on this site asking for a Tooley MBR with a Stiller Predator Inlet and 1.250 barrel inlet. Not but 2 hours later I had a hit. Someone had a brand new, still in box, McMillan Tooley MBR with the Predator inlet and 1.250 barrel channel. I could not believe it. I bought it on the spot! At first I did not think I would like the marble color swirl scheme. However, the seller told me it was a beautiful mix. After I saw the pictures of the stock, I was hooked. The color is 80% Orange, 10% Yellow, 10% White. It's awesome looking. The stock color, with the metal coated with durecoat black, looks amazing.

I am having it pillar bedded as we speak and should be completed by next weekend. I am also having a removable stud put in front, so I can use a bi-pod when I need it. I will post pics as soon as I get her back.

For those who are debating on what stock to buy for their varmint build, consider what type of shooting you'll be doing. If you think your going to shoot a bunch off of the ground and not too much off of rests or bags, then a tactical type stock will suit you perfectly. However, if you think you might be shooting off of rests and bags, then get one of the flat bottom stocks. The good thing about a flat bottom stock is, you can have a removable stud put on the front for bi-pod use and than you can take the stud and bi-pod off when shooting on bags. I thought by posting this it would help others on deciding what stock to use for their build instead of making a mistake like I did when deciding on the stock choice.

If anybody has any questions regarding stock choice feel free to Private message me.

SIDE NOTE----I am selling my Manners stock. If anyone is interested, private message me. It's been bedded for a Stiller Predator Single Shot Short action and has a barrel channel that will accept barrels up to 1.250.
