How long does it take to chamber and fit a barrel ? Total time involved.

4-8 hrs depending on barrel length , contour and composition , cartridge, and caliber . Sometimes 14 and 17 cal can be tricky ,as can 50 BMG and 41v50 .

I actually gave up on the 14 walker , not much call for it any more . Actually if ever . My old friend use to do a 10 cal somthing .

Sounds like there's more to it than just chambering. After talking to different Smith's, they all have different recommendations. If the action hasn't been trued, that takes more time. Squaring and trueing the bolt. Lapping etc. All those things add up. Just a barrel chambering without all the other necessary machining may take a couple hours total but there seems to be more than just that process for proper fitting and accuracy.

It's usually 2-4 hours for me but it depends on what all I'm doing. A small capacity case is usually around 2 hours if I'm not threading the muzzle and some of the bigger cases can push 4 hours with muzzle threading, polishing, and engraving.

The quickest way , just speculating , insert reamer in cordless drill , insert assembly into axle , I mean barrel , squeeze trigger , empty chips often , more often if accuracy is desired .
Yes it's meant as a joke , had a rough couple of days .

I must be SLOW!By the time I open the barrel box,take measurements off the action and bolt,dial in and crown, flip it dial in the breach,cut shoulders,tenon to one thou.fit action to a class three fit,cut a cone with 5 thou clearance all the way around and then chamber the head space to one thou. of where I want it,and polish.On a 6 br it takes me 5 hrs.For a larger case 6hrs.Oh! I forgot time the action where the high end of the barrel is up.BUT I need to mention I don,t have a flush system.
