chambering new barrel

got all my parts picked up, now time to have gunsmith finish the barrel
i am new shooter so learning during my first build.
question is regardingg Reamers: 6BR;
i was given two options:
a: one reamer for a turned(tight) neck
b: another reamer for a no turn neck throated for VLD type bulets: berget 105 VLD

my question is :
what is advantage for no turn neck chamber versus a tight neck chamber?
advantages, disadvantages.

thanks alot

The no turn means no hassle of turning however the new reamer which is .2704 for blue box brass is too tight and will require turning anyways so spec your reamer at .272 or you will have that hassle. Turned necks are for the tight chamber and generally will give you better accuracy and longer brass life because it will be the exact size you need. The brass of turned necks is fit to expand what you need exactly and no more. With a no turn there can be abnormalitys with any brass in regards to neck thickness etc. I have 2 6br's and 1 is turned neck and one is not . I cant tell the difference on the target yet.

I also have two 6 br's and one is a tight neck chamber and the other is a no turn neck chamber. The difference i have encountered is that the tight neck chamber that was done with a new finish reamer enables me to de- prime and neck size the brass with a Wilson hand tool and that's all (besides cleaning ) I do. Headspace has never needed adjustment nor has the FL needed re-sized. My no turn chamber requires careful bumping of the brass and some re-sizeing when the bolt lift gets stiff.
Of the two the tight neck chamber is far more trouble free when it comes to prepping brass for re-fireing. Both shoot very well but i am partial to the tight neck one.

thanks for the advice, as a new shooter learning to shoot more accurately,
i will most likely go with no neck turn chamber reamer, when i get better then consider tighter neck chamber.
lots to learn

IMO, either will put 'em in one hole at 100 yards.
I shoot 107 grain Sierras. Never been disappointed. If I do my job, it's all bug holes.

You can always make the tight neck into a no turn if you don't like it, but not the other way around. Just a thought.

Go with the no-turn.

Shoot your barrel out.

By then you'll be better prepared to appreciate the benefits of having a tight neck when you have your next barrel fitted.

You can always turn necks to improve accuracy and repeatability of your loaded rounds. Most folks seeking those attributes will do that as well as annealing case necks even though they're using no-turn chambers.

thanks for the input, i will go with no neck turn chamber.
i am now already annealing after every 2 firings, makes for more consistent seating of bullets
doing what i can to get better.
