Chamber plugs

Yep. Ear plugs in the muzzle work perfect. Plus no chance of soaking the action(unless you overfill it). I usually fill it thru the bore guide.

Possum Hollow used to make chamber plugs sold by Midway that allows you to soak a barrel in your solvent while standing up overnight. I had mine for ones for 22-250 and 243/308 cases for +25 years and use them on occasion to clean a really dirty barrel. Midway shows they are now discontinued. Any make an equivalent plug? Need one for a 30-06 size case.

Thanks,

Tim
You can get O-Ring material in an appropriate size from McMaster.com. Cut off a length and Krazy Glue it to a chopstick or similar.

Or get O-rings that you'd mount on a metal or wood plug grooved for them.

Chamber diameter for .30-06 will likely be in the .336"ish range. You want a tad larger to get a good seal.

I called Possum hollow a few months back about the chamber type plug you are referring to. He told me he no longer makes the cartridge specific type chamber plug. He said he makes some sort of a boreguide plug but it can't be used to soak barrel.

On Amazon latex finger cots rubber work well one over the muzzel stand it upright let it soak for as long as you want.

I have a bunch of chamber plugs. I'll check tomorrow and see if there is a 30-06 plug. Send me a cell number and I'll get with you. Tom 307 349 1578

I use one size smaller jag w a real wet patch. I haven't tried to use a stopper, maybe a patch stuffed into the muzzle. I think there is a sweet spot in period of time to let solvent sit in barrel and maybe use another patch in hour or so?

I've been using the Patriot Valley plug for about 2 years and never had a leak. I probably should replace the o ring soon but otherwise I've had zero issues with it.

Surprising, but they say that life can be full of surprises. If it works, carry on ..
