Just wanted to tell everyone thanks for all their input in this thread. I just completed my system but I am wondering if I really screwed up on fluid choice. I grabbed 5 gallons of Astro Cut B. I that fluid suitable or did I fail biggly?

I beleive this is what Dave Tooley uses? Possibly calls it Astro Swiss I believe?

It is two different products. Tooley uses Astro Swiss HD MV. Monroe has or did have a good tech support team that was easy to get ahold of. I’d call or email and ask them what they think. Back when Tooley used the LV at some point it became only available in 55 gal drums. That’s when people switched to the MV that was available in 5 gal buckets. I talked to Monroe tech at the time and they said for this application the MV would be comparable to the LV and would work just fine. No idea how the B product would work. I suspect it’ll be fine but ask Monroe.

I bet it’ll be fine. I’ve used semi synthetics and they work. I’ve used the Swiss oil and it works.

Reason for adding the ATF? I use this stuff as well, but only for reaming and threading due to the smoke.

It made a noticeable difference in chip evacuation.

I’d like to thin the Ridgid Extreme in my system. What type ATF? Maybe it doesn’t matter? To 4 1/2 gal Ridgid would I try a couple quarts ATF?
